Quotes have been taken from the show and may or may not be exactly the same as what was filmed. I try to remember everything about an episode, but it's difficult and I've tried to capture everything as correctly as possible.

The episode begins with an army trampling through the woods and the amazons are watching them. Xena, Gabrielle and Eve are walking through a different area and Eve asks "Ares message asked to meet him here in these woods?" Which Xena tells her yes. Gabrielle asks if Xena thinks he’s calling in a favor of which Eve reminds them that they do owe him and Xena agrees saying he gave up his godhood to save Eve and Gabrielle. Gabrielle makes a comment that maybe Ares wants to see Xena again because he has a thing for her. Xena tells her no, that he wants something and Gabby tells Xena "my point exactly" with a twinge of jealousy in her voice and a sarcastic smile. Eve looks very nervous after finding out that the land they are on is Amazon land as they all see how ravaged it has become. They all hear screams off in the distance and head off to find out what’s going on.

There is an extremely heated battle taking place with the army and the Amazons as Xena, Gabrielle and Eve rush onto the scene with Gabby and Xena jumping in to and help fight them. Eve hangs back and watches as everyone is fighting and doing a very good impression of Gabby from season four, but springs into action when the Queen is about to be killed. She showed some good moves along with mommy and Gabby to help defeat the army. The Queen introduces herself and her second in command Varia (who would have made a great daughter to Xena! She looks more like her than Eve and is a better actress) as Xena does her own introductions and they are all pleased to see her. Varia thinks she recognizes Eve, but can’t be sure. The Queen mentions that Gabrielle is also an Amazon Queen, which Gabby nods with a smile. Varia states that Xena has the power to kill gods, which she agrees, and the Queen tells her they have one more for her to kill. Xena asks whom and the Queen says Ares, The God of War.  As they are all heading back towards the Amazon camp, Gabrielle asks Xena why Ares would attack the Amazons and Xena wonders why he sent for her. She decides to double back to check some things out and tells Gabrielle to see what kind of information she can get out of the Queen.

The leader of Ares’ army informs him that they have not found the Amazon village and Ares is pissed. He punches the guy in the mouth and he asks why Ares won’t use his powers to blast them into oblivion, which Ares quips, "what’s the fun in that?" with shifty eyes. After the men leave Ares looks at his hand that is killing him after punching his man in the mouth. His army has no idea he no longer has godly powers. Ares demands that the army finds the Amazon’s camp before the end of the day and enters his tent. Ares is being pestered by a fly and can’t get rid of it, but tries to with his powers…oops! He no longer has them and tries to squash it when the fly landed on a pile of grapes. He missed it and Xena starts laughing as she had entered the tent. She chuckles replying, "the great god of war can’t even hurt a fly." He’s happy to see her and says, "you came," as Xena catches the fly replying, "lucky for you, the fly nearly had you." With a sarcastic grin and dropped the fly on the ground before rubbing it into the dirt with her boot. Ares tells Xena he is calling in a favor, as he wants his godhood back.

We next see the Amazons practicing their fighting skills as Gabrielle tries to find out why Ares wants to wipe out the Amazons from the Queen. She tells her that they have always had an uneasy rapport, but of late he has been trying hard to wipe them out. She tells Gabrielle that it’s a mystery as all they have is their land of which he’s destroyed most of it.

Ares tells Xena he doesn’t do being a mortal very good and he wants his godhood back. Xena realizes he wants the Amazon’s ambrosia and he says he knew they had it as his sister Athena told him in a dream, that they had a secret stash of it. Xena tells him they will never give it to him. He tells Xena that’s where she comes into it and that she can get it for him or else they will go to war. Xena tells him that she’s got a better idea, for him to give her control of his army and she’ll go in and squash the Amazons, taking the ambrosia, which won’t be a problem. She tells him she’s up for a little war and he’s excited saying that she’s like the old Xena. He thinks she’s up to something and she playfully moves his cheek telling him, "do I always have to be up to something? This greater good thing gets old." He says he wouldn’t know and she reminds him that he did by giving up his godhood for Gabrielle and Eve. She asks if he’s regretting giving up his godhood and having to rely on other people and bleeding like a stuck pig and having to ask her for help. He says that it really sucked to have to do that. Xena has a very condescending, sarcastic tone to her voice and slaps his head replying, "all because you did a good deed." She gets ready to kiss him and Gabrielle walks in and isn’t very pleased. Xena asks why she’s not watching the Amazon’s and Gabrielle tells her they know what they want and they aren’t giving it up. Gabrielle’s demeanor shocks Ares and Xena says they’ll just have to take it from the Amazon’s. Ares looks at Gabby for her response that smiles wickedly and agrees as she saunters over and sits next to Xena and Ares.

Ares asks what happened to the peace, loving blonde chick she used to be and she laughs drawling his name as she hops into his lap saying that him and Xena showed her that warrior’s rule the world. Ares is wondering just what in the heck is going on. Nah, I think he was thinking…’my dream has come true!’ J He pulls a cheesy move by pretending to yawn and puts his arm around Xena pulling them both closer to him saying, "I can really get used to this…I really could." He’s sporting a very cocky smile by the way…he loves it.

Eve is watching the Amazon’s train and she has flashbacks of being Livia and fighting the Amazon’s. Varia talks to her and tries to figure out whom she is, but Eve doesn’t want to talk about fighting before. She taunts her into fighting her, but Eve tells her she doesn’t want to make her angry before walking away. We then see Ares still trying to kill a fly with his dagger this time and it’s too funny the way he is sitting. ON the wall behind him, there are two horns and his head is positioned between them. He tauntingly tells the fly he is the God of War and finally kills it. Eve walks up behind him behind him asking if he had forgotten her so soon and that she didn’t always take second place to Xena as she is seductively rubbing her hands on him. She tells him she should be leading his army and Xena tells her to get in line as she is standing next to Gabrielle in the doorway resting her arm on Gabby’s shoulder.

Ares is delighted beyond belief that he has these three chicks hot for him and is gloating as the three are looking at him sexily. He tells them he’s going to tell his commander to prepare for an all out assault and tries to snap his fingers to disappear, but can’t. They all look at him with smirks on their faces as he can’t go anywhere that way anymore and of course he’s embarrassed stating he can’t get used to walking everywhere. Xena proposes that once they get the ambrosia they should split it four ways and create Olympus on earth. He is totally digging the chicks seducing him and likes the idea as he leaves the tent. Xena, Gabby and Eve all turn into the Furies! You didn’t really think our girls would play with Ares that much did you? J

The Furies state that one of them (Xena or Ares) has to die to avenge Olympians, clearing the path for them to rule mankind as they all maniacally laugh. The next scene is Ares outside of the tent and one of his men hands him some new armor as the Furies are behind him asking why he has that. No one else can see them but Ares and they are arguing about him wearing the armor by saying that his army will realize he no longer has his powers. It is a pretty funny scene as his army man is clueless to what’s going on and Ares looks like a nut ball talking to no one. He tells the girls to wait outside as he enters the tent. I must say that LL and ROC did an excellent job as the Furies. They were great!

Xena and Gabrielle walk into the tent and he turns telling them, "I thought I told you to wait outside?" Xena and Gabrielle are clueless saying he didn’t tell them anything yet. He tells them to get ready as they are going to roll over the Amazons. Gabrielle and Xena have no idea what he’s doing and Gabrielle asks, "What are you talking about?" He angrily replies, "war baby," and moves towards Gabrielle after saying she was hot for it before, but is stopped by Xena before reaching her. Xena tells him there won’t be any war and he takes her hand, kisses it replying, "You are such a kidder," with a sly grin, walking past them and looks back at Gabrielle stating, "don’t touch me!," before leaving. Gabrielle wipes her fingers as if she’s trying to get rid of him on her hands saying he has lost his mind. Xena says that he might have had a push in the right direction and Gabrielle suggests The Furies, which Xena says she’d bet on it.

Ares tries to mount his horse and The Furies greet him outside as Xena, Gabrielle and Eve. The real Xena and Gabrielle come out and The Furies taunt him into giving the order for the attack as Xena tries to stop him but can’t. He’s confused as to who to believe and digs The Furies more than listening to Xena and gives the order before riding off. Xena and Gabrielle head off to slow down the army and Xena creates a rockslide, which blocks their path as they head back to the Amazon village to warn them.

Eve is cleaning her leg wound from the battle as Varia comes in and thanks her for taking care of her Amazon sisters. She proudly shows off her battle scars as Eve shows hers explaining how she got them. They are both having a competition of sorts as they talk about the glories of battle and Eve says that she doesn’t miss it. Varia wants Eve to show her some moves and Eve asks if she’ll use them to hurt others, which Varia says she’ll only use them as defense. She prods Eve into showing her Eve’s best move. She does and Varia draws her sword to her saying she knew she saw her before and the move she just showed her, stating she’s Livia the bitch of Rome as she holds the sword at Eve’s throat.

Xena and Gabrielle rejoin the Amazons who have become a lynch mob with Eve tied up in the middle of their circle with rope. Xena demands that they cut her free, but the Amazon Queen says they can’t. Xena tells them they don’t have time for this as Ares’ army is advancing. Varia stats that Xena’s daughter is the reason they have such few numbers. Eve explained that the surviving Amazons were captured and she sold them into slavery. Xena looks at her slightly surprised and in disbelief.  The Queen stats that the law says that she must die. Gabrielle steps up saying, "I can’t let that happen," and the Queen asks if Gabrielle is challenging her, whom she retorts, "If it comes to that," challenging her quite adamantly I might add.

Gabrielle and the Queen stare each other down with the Queen stating that Eve did save her life and that they do need Xena, deciding they’ll wait until everything is over to deal with Eve. She orders them to take Eve to the hut and bind her. Xena enters the hut they are holding Eve in and threatens Varia who is holding a sword to Eve’s neck that if anything happens to Eve while she’s in her custody she’ll have her to deal with adding… "Trust me, you ain’t ready for that," with authority and her steely gaze. Varia isn’t pleased and leaves the hut in a huff. Xena talks to Eve who is tied to a pole asking her why she didn’t tell them. Eve informs her that she couldn’t because she knew how much the Amazons meant to both of them. Xena asked if she thought she would love her less if she had told her and Eve added that what she did was unforgivable.

Xena informs Eve that she knows how hard it is to tell someone your sorry especially to someone you love and turns to Gabrielle. Gabrielle is standing there with a slight smile waiting to hear what Xena has to say. Xena tries to explain why she hit her with the chakram, but Gabrielle stops her saying, "it wasn’t your fault, it was The Furies which drove her to try to kill Eve." Gabrielle tells Xena that she’s forgiven her and that she should do the same. Xena is near tears saying, "I thought I lost you," as she lovingly strokes Gabrielle’s cheek with the back of her hand. Gabrielle takes Xena’s hand saying, "you didn’t and now The Furies are back. Xena replies, "Only this time we’ve go to take them out."

Ares’ army is busy moving the rocks and he’s demanding that they move faster to clear the path. Xena as a fury appears asking him, "What’s wrong…having a hard time getting your rocks off?" She continues to taunt him and he gets very angry. He draws his sword and starts swinging his sword trying to kill the invisible Xena as his army is really doubting his sanity. The real Xena shows up and tells him it’s The Furies that are driving him insane which he emphatically denies saying it’s her that’s doing it. He’s lost it big time folks! Xena tries to get him to fight The Furies, but he can’t and he whines that Xena always hated him saying that he tried to give her everything as he’s holding his sword to her near tears. Xena tells him they just didn’t want the same things and he calls her a liar. Ares tries to kill her, but Xena jumps over him onto the rocks and disappears. It is a similar long jump like the one from Ulysses. Ares guarantees that he will kill her or the Amazons if they get in his way. He has undeniably lost it!

The Amazons are preparing for battle and Xena tries to stop them, but she can’t as they head towards Ares’ army. The army proceeds forward and stops as the Amazons approach squaring off. Ares rides up on his horse ahead of the army and dismounts. He threatens the Queen saying, "give me what I want woman and I’ll think about being nice." He hears Xena’s battle cry ring out and rolls his eyes in disgust that she has showed up. She dismounts her horse, no it wasn’t Argo II, and kicks the sword out of his hand with her fists up asking, "What’s wrong God of War, afraid of a girl?" as the army laughs. Ares is pissed off and puts his hands up thinking she’s kidding only to realize she’s not one she belts him in the chin knocking him on his butt. Xena taunts him along with The Furies and by now, his men are losing their faith in him.

Xena tells him, "You’re losing it and by the way, gods don’t bleed." He tries to grab Xena, but she back flips and mounts her horse, riding away. Ares follows her and his army retreats as the Amazons move towards them. They are happy that the army has run off and show their pleasure with cheers. Gabrielle runs in and frees Eve telling her to bring the blankets she needs her help as they both run out of the hut.

There is a huge horse chase between Xena and Ares asks if she’s ready to die. She is standing overlooking a frozen pond and turns to him, wailing her chakram at him stating, "Been there done that." He moves and the chakram misses him. The chakram continues to bounce off the cavern walls and disappears. Ares and Xena get into a fistfight and are beating the crap out of each other. Xena nails Ares and he falls to the ground, bleeding profusely from his mouth. He asks if she is enjoying it before fighting more and knocking her to the ground. Xena is backing up closer to the pond and they continue to fight dizzying Xena who is also bloodied from the fight. Ares throws a punch that Xena stops with her hand then another with the same result, crushing his knuckles and driving him to the ground. Xena tells him he might be mortal, but he will never be a man.

Ares is furious and punches her, knocking her in the water. She disappears underwater and you see her under the ice. Ares is looking for her and finds her. She is asking for help through the water, but he’s out of his mind babbling that he’s a man as The Furies exit his head. The tauntingly tell him he has killed his beloved and are killed by Xena’s chakram that has suddenly appeared five minutes later and disappears. Call Guinness, it’s the longest a chakram has ever traveled! Ares has returned to reality, finally realizing what he has done to Xena and dives under the water to save her. He exits the water in slow motion with a very flaccid Xena in his arms and carries her to the shore. He is very upset and wails over her dead body as Gabrielle and Eve run up. Gabrielle tells him he hasn’t killed her and he moves out of the way as Gabrielle and Eve cover her with the blankets. Gabrielle begins mouth-to-mouth and then CPR to revive her. After two resuscitation attempts, Xena breaths and coughs up the water as Gabrielle lifts her up into her arms. We hear the sound of the chakram and Xena sticks her hand up catching it.

The scene ends and we see Ares sitting on a rock feeling bad for himself saying, "mortality stinks and hurts," as Xena walks up to him. Xena is checking over his wounds and chuckles at his comment. He tells her as a mortal he might be able to experience something he couldn’t as a god…her. She says, "You never give up do you?" and kisses him. He breaks the kiss replying, "Owww," from his busted lip and says, "I guess I’m finally getting to you." Xena replies, "No, you’ve always gotten to me. You were bad for me and still are," before walking away. He asks if there is a chance of them being together like one in a thousand as Xena stops and turns back to him. She smiles replying, "More like one in a billion." He smiles saying, "So, you’re saying there is a chance?" She smiles and shakes her head "no" in disbelief and walks away. Ares stands up and straightens up as if he is going to disappear like he always has a god, but goes nowhere. He gives up defeated and walks away replying, "I’ve got to stop trying that, I’m going to rupture something," as the episode fades to black.

The episode was very good and as usual LL and ROC were great, especially as The Furies. They looked like they had a ball filming those scenes. Keving Smith did a great job as well as a delusional former God of War and had some very funny lines in this episode. I could have done without the kiss between the two of them in the end and if TPTB had to do something like that to give those two closure, it would have been more meaningful as a thank you to him for saving Eve and Gabrielle to have kissed him on the cheek.
