I had the chance to see my dreams fulfilled

It was right there at my fingertips

All I had to do, was reach out and grab it

And the temptation was almost overpowering

But if I had taken it

I would have destroyed someone else's

And though I teetered on the verge

And came close to giving in

I just couldn't do it

So I stood back, and watched someone else's dreams come true

And found, to my surprise

That I felt happy for them

And not sorry for myself

Besides, my time will come

My dreams will come true

And the triumph will be all mine

Free and clear

At no one else's expense

And I'll be there to claim it when it does
