Housewife's
Rebellion
by Terri Lyn Stanfield
Copyright: 2/24/2001
You come home each day complaining
You work so hard, always straining
You say that I have got it made
Just doing nothing every day
Just staying home, and kicking back
Not out there slaving with the pack
You must think the house cleans itself
Vacuums its floors and dusts its shelves
Washes your dishes, cooks your food
Well, excuse me for being rude!
But I work just as hard as you
And it is time you knew it, too
I'm not your slave, I'm not your maid
And I am sorely underpaid
You want clean laundry, do your part
Use the clothes hamper for a start
You leave them laying in the floor
That's where they'll stay forevermore
You want hot meals on the table
Glad to do it when I'm able
But for that, I need clean dishes
And no genie grants my wishes
So bring them from the living room
If you don't, they're going to bloom
Just make your own penicillin
Sell it for cheap, make a killing
But if you want a home cooked meal
You do your part, or there's no deal
I know you work hard at your job
And don't think I'm heartless, cause I'm not
But I deserve some respect too
It's an endless job that I do
From the time I get up each day
With no time to rest or to play
Till bed time very late at night
With never a day off in sight
I keep this house, and raise our kids
But I'm not taking more of this
You never help, or say thank you
And it's past time I got my due
You can complain all that you like
But this here housewife is on strike!
