The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand
says you'll catch me
If ever I fall
You say it best
When you say nothing at all

The sun rose up over the mountains, sunshine flowing over the valley.
Xena woke up, stretching out her arms. She noticed at once that something was missing. Turning to her side, she saw that Gabrielle wasn't there. Sitting up, she looked around but she wasn't in the hut.
Standing up she took in her surroundings. There were dark stone walls around her and silk banners hung down the walls in some places. There were too many to count. The room itself was huge, with two double doors leading somewhere. She looked down at the bed she was in to see that it was covered in blood red silk sheets. She immediately stood.
"Welcome," a deep silky voice whispered.
She twisted around to see Ares. "What do you want, and why have you brought me here?"
He smiled. "Should be obvious why I did."
She stepped back as he approached. "I thought you lost your God hood."
"Lost? No....it was taken from me."
"On your own will, Ares."
He hurried over to her. "Yes, and I don't think you are very grateful for what I did."
She stepped back. "I thanked you."
"Yes you did." His eyes roamed over her body, making her shiver.
"Why did you bring me here? And how did you bring me here?"
He smiled once again. "That's my little secret." He reached forward, pulling her toward him. "Now come here and thank me properly."
She pushed against him, but it was no use. Raising her knee, she slammed it hard between his legs.
He let go of her and stepped back. "Is that a no."
She turned and fell forward.
"Xena! Xena!"
Xena jumped awake and saw Gabrielle kneeling over her.
"Are you okay?"
"What happened?"
"You were having a dream, you fell out of bed." She raised her hand to touch the gash along Xena's forehead. "You smacked the table on your way down. "You all right?"
"I'm fine." She took Gabrielle's hand and was pulled up.
"What were you dreaming about?" She waited till Xena was sitting back on the bed.
Xena winced when Gabrielle applied medicine to the gash. "Hmm?"
"I asked what the dream was about?"
Xena sat there for a minute before replying, "I don't remember."

Gabrielle watched Xena from across the village. She noticed how the warrior carried herself. No one just glancing would notice but Gabrielle knew this woman completely. Something was wrong.
She jumped when a hand was laid on her shoulder.
"Relax Gabrielle," said Eve softly. "Its just me." She sat down next to her. "Something wrong?"
"You could say that."
"Wanna tell me about it?"
Gabrielle shook her head. "I'm not too sure what it is myself."
Eve nodded. "I heard you two are leaving tomorrow."
"Actually today. We want to get to our families to set things straight."
"How are you going to explain everything to them?"
"I have no idea." She turned to her. "But we will somehow."
They both looked up to see Xena standing over them.
Eve stood up. "I'll leave you two alone."
Xena sat down next to Gabrielle. "I was thinking that we could leave shortly."
"Good idea." She stroked the warrior's arm. "Everything okay?"
Xena smiled. "Its great I just...."
"....don't like staying in one spot too long?"
Xena shook her head. "You know me too well, I think."
Gabrielle nodded. "So should I start packing up and say good bye to everyone?" She rose to stand in front of Xena. "Hmm?"
Xena raised her head, slowly, taking in every piece of bardly flesh, till her eyes reached solid green. "You are so beautiful."
Gabrielle smiled. "Only to you." She bent down to place a soft kiss on Xena's lips, before walking away towards their hut.

The soft grass tickled her feet as she walked through the field. Looking up,
she saw the moon up overhead.
Her arm hit against the sword at her side and she smiled as she walked ahead.
Making it to the stream, she sat down on a rock.
"You did well," said a deep voice.
"Yes, I did."
"The battle went better then I had thought."
She turned. "You doubted me?"
"No, never, just...." He smiled. "..congratulating you."
She stood and moved in front of him. "Thank you, but I know I'm good, you don't have to remind me." She smiled.
He shook his head. "My warrior."
Her head tilted. "You're what? I belong to no one, least of all you, Ares."
He reached forward to pull her against him. "Yes you do. I created you and turned you into a conquering warlord. Without me you'd be nothing."
"If that's the way you feel, why can't you live without me." She grinned evilly.
"Is that what you think?"
"Yes." She stepped back out of his grasp. "I have what you want."
"And what is that?"
She gave a toothy grin and slid off her shoulder guards.
She had his attention now and continued to remove her armor.
Once the armor was gone, and she was in nothing more then her leathers, she stepped back. "Who owns who, Ares?"
He stepped forward. "You belong to me."
She stepped away, hands going to the laces. "Hmm?"
He smiled and looked over her body. "I guess its me who is in your command."
She stepped forward. "Yes." The leather fell to the ground. "Now come and get me." And she turned to run away into the forest, a trailing Ares close behind.
Xena opened her eyes and looked around the hut. Gabrielle was still asleep at her side and she calmed down a bit.
She stood and grabbed her leather tunic, slipping it on, then walked out into the night.
The village was quiet, except for the few women who were on guard at the gates.
She walked out of the village quietly and ended up at the lake. Sitting down, she stared out into the water. Nothing was making sense right now.
She closed her eyes as she felt a spark shoot through her. Turning her head she saw him. Her mouth opened to speak, but he interrupted her.
"Save it."
She looked confused.
"Before you ask, no I didn't come here for trouble."
"So why did you come?"
He shook his head. "I don't know."
She turned away looking back out into the water again.
"Xena."
"What?"
"Why can't things be mended between us?"
"Because too much has happened."
He lowered his head. "I see. But you know that we have a connection."
She turned to face him again. "We do not."
"Then explain to me why you can still feel when I'm near?"
She turned away. "I can't."
"You are the only mortal to ever do that. I thought maybe it was because I was a god. You sense all the gods, but then after I gave it up, you still do it." He walked closer.
She stood up and turned to him. "No, Ares. What ever happened between us is in the past. Leave it alone."
He was silent for a moment before looking up at the sky. "But you have been dreaming about me." He saw her head shoot up. "Don't deny it, I know its true now."
"How...."
"..did I know? Because I've been dreaming about you. About my warrior princess."
She looked away. "I'm not..."
"I know, I know." He took a breath.
Her head raised up. "Truce." She extended her arm.
He stared at his for a moment before doing the same. "Truce."
She pulled away and turned from him. She felt arms go around her and closed her eyes at the feeling, before trying to move out of his grasp.
"I'm not asking for anything......just let me comfort you."
She stopped and leaned back against him, feeling years of pain lift from her heart.
Gabrielle woke up to the feeling of loss. She turned her head to see the other half of the bed empty. Sitting up, she looked around.
Just then the door opened and Xena walked in. She shut it and walked towards the bed.
"Where did you go?"
"I had some unfinished business to attend to."
"Oh? You okay?"
"I'm fine now." She slid off her leathers and climbed in behind Gabrielle, pulling her close. "I love you."
"I love you too." She heard Xena's breathing even out and knew that she was asleep. She tried to moved forward, but Xena held her tight. Gabrielle smiled. "Even in sleep, you protect me." She closed her eyes and let sleep take her.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The morning came soon and Gabrielle woke to find Xena gone as usual. Getting up,
she dressed and headed outside.
The village was active as usual.
"Good morning," purred a silky voice in her ear as arms wrapped around her waist and warm breath fell across her neck.
Gabrielle shivered slightly. "It is now." She closed her eyes at the feeling. "I think we need to talk about your early rising."
"Why?"
"I hate waking up and finding you gone."
"I guess I have to much energy."
Gabrielle smiled. "We could work on that." She felt Xena chuckle behind her.
"Careful, Gabrielle."
"Why?" She pushed back into Xena, rubbing her lower body into hers.
"Mmm, I see. Don't start something you can't finish."
Gabrielle turned in her arms. "I'm sure I can handle it. I'm tired of waiting, I want you now." She pulled Xena down for a hot kiss, then walked away to the hut.
Xena took a few breaths to calm her racing heart and followed. She entered the hut to see Gabrielle's top fall. Her back was to her which made it all the more difficult to stay in one spot as she watched the skirt follow.
Gabrielle turned and saw Xena's eyes close. "What is it?" She saw the dark pools open up again and saw the hunger behind them. She stepped back and sat on the bed. "Come and get me my warrior."
Xena slid off her shift and breeches, then walked to the bed.
Gabrielle slid her hands along Xena's lower back and hips, nails lightly scratching the soft skin. She heard Xena gasp as she licked along her stomach.
"Gabrielle." Her voice was low with passion.
"Hmm?" She looked up at her. "You want me?"
"Yes."
"You need me?"
"Yes."
She smiled. "Then come have me forever." She moved back onto the bed, watching Xena crawl towards her. Her legs were pulled out from under her and she was slid down to Xena, who hovered above her.
"After I get through with you, you'll have a whole to meaning to sleeping late, cause you will sleep for days."
"Yeah, yeah." She saw the raised eyebrow and knew she was in trouble before the fingers descended on her very ticklish side. "Okay, okay, I believe you."
"Not convincing." The tickling continued.
"I....give....up...." She felt tears coming out from her eyes. "You barbarian." A whole new round.
The playfulness was soon gone and Xena laid down on Gabrielle, both sighing at the feeling. "You feel so good."
"Just wait."
"Oh?" Her head lowered to feast on the exposed neck.
Gabrielle raised her knees to allow Xena's body to settle in between. She closed her eyes at the feeling.
Xena pushed her hips into Gabrielle and heard a slight whimper, so she did it again to receive a small groan. "I think we can do better than that." She ground her hips down into Gabrielle.
"Oh gods."
"Much better." She captured Gabrielle's lips.
"Mother, Gabrielle, are you in there."
Both women groaned.
Xena reached for her chakrum but was stopped by Gabrielle.
"Don't you dare." She rolled out from under the warrior and grabbed a shift, slipping it over her head, catching the sweet scent of Xena. She walked out.
Xena grabbed another shift and stood to walk to the door, when Gabrielle walked back in.
"What did she want?"
"She said that lunch is ready."
"We were interrupted for lunch?"
Gabrielle smiled. "Impatient?"
"No, just about to kill my daughter." She grabbed her sword and moved to walk out the door.
"Just a minute, you owe me time."
She set down the sword and picked Gabrielle up, walking to the bed, where she laid her down gently. She saw Gabrielle bite her lower lip and she only did that for one reason.
Xena kissed her lightly. "We don't have to do this."
"I want to, I'm just nervous."
"Nothing to be nervous about love, its just me, your warrior, about to make love to you."
Gabrielle looked away.
"What is it?"
"Deja vu."
"Huh?"
She shook her head. "Nothing." She wrapped her arms around Xena's head to pull her down for a kiss. Her stomach growled loudly.
Xena laughed. "One thing is always the same."
Gabrielle shook her head. "Oh yeah, still the same appetite."
Xena stood and held out her hand. "Come one, lets get some food in you."
"But...."
"Plenty of time later." She kissed her on the nose. "Come on."
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The food hut was loud as Amazons moved in and out.
Xena and Gabrielle found a spot along the bench and Gabrielle filled her plate.
"Where do you put all of that?"
She turned and winked at her warrior. "I had to save up for something."
"Oh no." She knew she was in trouble. She grabbed a few things and set them on her plate. Grabbing a grape, she tossed it up and catching it neatly in her mouth.
"Is there any thing that you can't do?"
Xena twitched her eye brows and smiled. "Not that I know of. But there are a few things I do better then others."
"Oh, and what are those?" She had heard that somewhere.
"Something wrong?"
"No, I'm fine." She slipped a grape into her mouth and smiled at Xena who was watching her. "Wanna play a game?"
Xena shook her head. "No." And she grabbed the back of Gabrielle's head, pulling her mouth to hers, before pulling back, chewing on the grape.
"You are so bad."
"Yeah, but I'm so good at it." She smiled as she continued to eat.
"You never cease to amaze me, you know that."
"Yes."

They left the village after lunch and headed towards Amphipolis. Eve told them
that she would follow shortly in a few days.
As the gates to the town came into view, both began to worry. They had no idea if Cyrene was even alive or what shape things would be in.
When they entered the tavern, things changed, as they saw Cyrene waiting on a customer. She walked to the bar and bent to retrieve something from under the counter.
Xena walked up to it and sensing a presence, Cyrene said, "What can I get for you?"
"How about a port."
There was a moment of silence before Cyrene raised up to see if her ears had been playing tricks on her. She gasped when she saw who it was. "Xena."
"Mother."
Cyrene came from around the bar and pulled her daughter into a warm hug. "By the gods, I thought you were dead."
"I'm alive."
"I can see that." She looked her over. "What happened?"
"Its a long story."
"I have time. I always did." She turned to see Gabrielle and moved to her pulling her in for a hug. "Good to see you Gabrielle."
"Good to see you too."
Cyrene grabbed a hand from each and pulled them to a back table. "Now sit and tell me what happened."
Xena turned to Gabrielle and took a deep breath. This was going to take a while.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Gabrielle woke up to a rooster crowing and laughed for no reason. She sat up and
looked around the room, empty of course. Sliding her legs out of bed, she
grabbed her water bottle to get rid of the awful taste in her mouth.
The door opened and she knew who it was. Smiling, she looked up to see a very amused expression on Xena's face. "Yes, and what do you want?"
Xena raised a brow. "Do you need to ask?" She walked forward. "Mother told me to come get you. Breakfast."
Gabrielle nodded and stood up. "I love you mother's cooking."
"Yep." She followed her out.
Cyrene looked up in time to see them walking down the stairs. "There she is."
"Morning Cyrene, you look refreshed."
"I am, now that I have my girls back, nothing can make me lose this smile." She turned back around to the food.
Gabrielle sat down at the table. "Do I have time to wash up?"
"Yes," a velvet voice behind her whispered.
"Mmm, I take it you want to join me," also in a whisper.
"What are you two talking about over there?"
Xena smiled. "I was thinking of taking Gabrielle and dumping her in the river."
Cyrene nodded and continued to cook.
"You are so bad." She stood and followed the warrior out the door.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Dumping me in the river huh?" Gabrielle asked as they sat down near
the bank of the river.
Xena shrugged. "It sounded good." She turned to the bard.
"Don't even think about it."
"Or what? I'll be cut off for a month?" She crawled toward her.
Gabrielle moved away. "Get that look off of your face warrior." She squeaked when Xena grabbed her ankle and pulled her towards her.
"You were saying." She smiled down at her.
"Come here." She pulled Xena down onto her and held her tight. "This feels great."
Xena's head rest on her shoulder. "Mmm hmm."
Gabrielle heard the soft rhythmic breathing in her ear and knew Xena was relaxed. 'Its funny how she can just let go and trust me.' She ran a hand over Xena's back and started to cry.
"What's wrong?"
"You'd laugh at me."
"I won't." She raised her head to look at Gabrielle.
"It just feels right, like a puzzle piece fitting into the right spot. I'm not sure I could make it without you."
Xena smiled. "See, I didn't laugh. But you're right. It does feel perfect. And I'm not going anywhere as long as I have a say in it."
Gabrielle nodded closing her eyes when Xena rolled over, pulling the bard into her arms, both falling asleep.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Gabrielle opened her eyes, glancing to her right to see Xena sleeping. She
raised up and reached out with a hand to caress Xena's cheek. Her hand slid
lower to graze the skin on her neck and shoulder. Running down an arm, she knew
this is where she wanted to be forever.
Xena rolled over and smiled. "Have a nice nap?"
"Of course, I was in your arms wasn't I."
"I'm just a big pillow."
"No." She laid down her head on a comfortable shoulder. "But you are soft."
"Soft." She chuckled.
"Yes soft." She sat up and looked down at Xena. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"I can't wait to be joined to you."
"You were always joined to me, this is just a ceremony to show everyone else that."
Gabrielle stood and reached out her hand. "We should get going."
"Good idea." She grabbed the hand and pulled herself up.
"Food awaits."
"Is that all you think about?"
"No." She gave a saucy grin as she raised her brows. She grabbed Xena's hand and led them away.
Cyrene looked up just in time to see the two women walk into the kitchen. "Have a nice swim?"
Gabrielle nodded and sat down next to Cyrene. "Can I help with anything?"
"You sure can. Those veggies need cut up for the stew."
Gabrielle stood and grabbed a knife, standing in front of the counter. She felt a hand on her arm and a warm body pressed up against her back. "Yes?" She turned to give Xena a soft kiss to her cheek.
"Do I need a reason for everything?" She laid her head down on Gabrielle's shoulder.
"No, sorry." She turned away but Xena pulled her face back.
"Its okay. I just wanted to hold you." At that moment her arms came around Gabrielle to hold tight then let go.
Gabrielle smiled. "You can hold me anytime you want?"
"I'll hold you to that, bard." She grabbed the other knife and moved to Gabrielle's side to help with the cutting.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Gabrielle pat her stomach and leaned back against Xena. "Your mother is a
great cook."
"Yeah well, not everything is inherited." She saw the young woman yawn. "Tired?"
"A little. Its been a hard day and tomorrow will be just as hard."
"I'll be with you every step of the way."
"I know."
Xena moved from behind Gabrielle and laid down, pulled the bard down into her arms. The stress of the day settled down on them as they fell asleep.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Xena smiled as she dangled the feather over Gabrielle's nose. The bard stirred
and tried to wipe at it but she never woke up. Xena moved in again and was
surprised when she was grabbed and rolled over. "Morning."
Gabrielle shook her head. "You know that is not a nice way to wake up."
"And what is a nice way?"
"This is." She leaned down and captured Xena's lips in a fiery kiss that left them both breathless.
Xena nodded. "Oh yeah. I agree." She pulled her back down, hearing the door knock.
"I am going to kill whoever that is," Gabrielle groaned out as the warrior stood up. "Tell them to come back."
Xena opened the door and saw her mother. Turning to Gabrielle, she smiled. "I don't think she'll listen."
Cyrene walked in. "Morning. I didn't interrupted anything did I?"
"YES!!
"We'll be right down." She closed the door and turned to the blonde.
"What?" She raised the covers over her head.
"Oh no you don't."
The covers were ripped off of her body and she sat up. "Xena."
"Don't Xena me, get up." She waited. "Now."
Gabrielle reached forward, grabbing hold of the shift, and pulled Xena back onto the bed. She immediately straddled her stomach. "You were saying."
Xena's hands grabbed hold of Gabrielle's hips. "As much as I'd like to stay in bed with you, we need to get going."
"What's the hurry?"
Xena raised up, a vicious grin on her face. "Because my love when I ravish you, I don't want an audience." She rolled the woman over, holding her arms above her head. "Got it."
"Yeah."
"Good then get up." She moved off the bed and grabbed her leathers, barely dodging a shift thrown in her direction.
Cyrene heard them running down the stairs and had to chuckle at herself.
Xena ran into the kitchen followed by Gabrielle. "I won."
"You have longer legs then me."
"Quite whining."
"I'm not whining."
Xena rolled her eyes.
"You are so mean. Barbarian."
Xena shook her head, threw a look at her mom, and bent down, grabbing Gabrielle and hauling her over her shoulder. "What were you saying?"
"I take it back."
"Thought so." She sat her back down in a nearby chair. "What's for breakfast?"
Cyrene laughed and shook her head. "You two are something else."
"Trust me she knows," called Gabrielle.
"So what have you two been up to since you got back?"
"Oh you know the usual. Kicking butt, getting Gabrielle out of trouble...." She took a seat. ".....are getting joined at the next full moon."
Cyrene's head whipped around. "What?"
Xena smiled. "We're getting joined at the Amazons at the next full moon. Would you like to be there?"
"Of course." She kissed each woman on the top of the head. "Congratulations. I knew it would happen eventually."
"Yeah, when we wait for Xena to do anything, nothing gets done."
"I never get anything done because I'm always saving your butt."
Gabrielle smiled. "You like saving my butt. What no comment?"
"Any ways." She turned to her mother. "We need to go tell Gabrielle's parents, but we'll be back."
"Be careful, you only have a few days."
"Trust me, I wouldn't miss it for the world." She hugged her mother and headed towards the stove to help make breakfast.
"Let me..." Gabrielle stepped in. "Warriors can't cook."
"Yes they can."
"Well you can't."
Xena moved aside catching her mother's look. "What?"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Xena was silent as she watched Gabrielle walk towards her family's house. She
waited for the woman while she sat atop Argo II.
Gabrielle looked around, her gaze returning to Xena.
Xena waved her on.
Gabrielle took a deep breath and moved closer.
The door opened and Lila stepped out. "Gabrielle." Her arms widened as she grabbed her sister in for a hug. "I came to visit mother and father and I'm glad I did."
Gabrielle pulled back. "How are they?"
"They're good."
Gabrielle sighed. "Are they....."
"Mother's up. Father went into town."
Lila stepped back, noticing Xena and let Gabrielle into the door.
A woman sat near the fire, in a chair, with yarn in her hands. She looked up once then did a double take to make sure she wasn't seeing things. "Gabrielle?"
"Yes. Mom I'm here."
The woman stood up and pulled Gabrielle into an embrace. "Gods, we thought you were dead."
Gabrielle could hear the quiet sobs. "I'm okay."
Her mother couldn't say anything. Her eyes were filled with tears and she couldn't let go of Gabrielle.
"Mom." She pulled back. "I'm okay." She gently rubbed the old woman's chin.
"And Xena?"
"She's here."
Hecuba nodded, pulling Gabrielle in for another hug. She let go. "Lets go see your warrior."
Gabrielle smiled at the phrase 'your warrior'. They walked outside and Gabrielle's noticed Lila standing next to Xena.
Xena walked closer and was surprised when Hecuba pulled her in for a hug.
"Thank you. Thank you for bringing her back to me." She continued to sob as Xena held her.
"Gabrielle's safety in my first priority."
The woman pulled back. "I know." She turned to Gabrielle. "Your father went into town."
"That's what Lila told me."
"Are you two staying long?"
Gabrielle turned to Xena. "Not long. We have some matters to attend to."
"Oh."
Gabrielle smiled. "Mother. I would like to ask you two something." She took a deep breath. "Xena and I have agreed to join in the full moon ceremony at the Amazons. Would you come?" She then looked up at her mother to see her expression. She didn't have to worry.
Her mother had a huge smile on her face as she pulled the two women closer and cried some more. "Of course I would."
"I will too."
"And father?"
Hecuba smiled. "I'm sure he will."
"I hope so."
Xena stepped forward. "Do you want to follow us there?"
"That would be great. When?"
"Now? I have to stop by and pick up my mother in Amphipolis."
"Do we still have that wagon?" Gabrielle asked.
"Yes."
"Lets bring it."
Hecuba again pulled the two women closer, planting a kiss to each of their temples.

Xena turned to Gabrielle, who was walking along with her. "You haven't said
much."
Gabrielle shrugged. "Its just that there's so much excitement." She lowered her head.
"Hey, if they is going to fast..."
Gabrielle interrupted. "Not at all. Just too much excitement. Do you think I can ride up there?"
"You hate riding."
"Yeah but if you're with me. Holding your arms around me. I feel safe."
Xena stopped, hopped onto Argo, and held out a hand for Gabrielle, pulling her up in front of her. "Better?"
"Yes." She closed her eyes and laid her head back.
"You're just lazy."
Gabrielle smiled and pulled Xena's arms around her. "I love you."
"Love you back."
"How long till we get to the Amazons?"
"Should be there tonight."
"Wow."
"We'll ride all night and let everyone rest while things are prepared."
"Do I have to be apart from you?"
"You okay?"
"I'm fine why?"
Xena shook her head and shrugged. "Nothing."
"First thing I want to do when I get back is take a long hot bath."
"Mmm, want some company?" She got a soft kiss in return. "I take that as a yes."
"How did I get so lucky?"
"No, that's my question."
"And the answer is?"
"I was born to love you."
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Gabrielle stop pacing, you're making me dizzy."
The bard looked down at Eve and saw her laugh. "How long does it take to go give thanks to a god?"
Eve shook her head. "Sit. Now."
Gabrielle sat down on the chair and watched the village move about. "What do we have to do before the full moon?"
"That's it. I don't have to tell you two to stay apart so that you don't...."
"No because we haven't."
"I know."
"Yeah I guess you do." She stood up again when she saw the group of Amazons walking into the village. "Xena." She ran to her warrior. "Everything go okay, what did she say?"
Xena smiled. "Hello to you to."
Gabrielle sighed. "Hi. Now what did she say?"
"She'll be here tomorrow for the event."
"And?"
"And I'm hungry." She walked past the blonde and headed towards the dining hut.
Gabrielle stood there slack jawed till she heard Xena call to her. "What?"
"I said close your mouth, you'll catch flies."
She did and walked away. "Warriors."
"I heard that."
She smiled and followed. When she got there, she didn't see anyone else in the hut and wanted to use that to her advantage. Seeing Xena take a seat, she rushed over to get her a plate.
"Gabrielle."
She shivered when she felt the warm breath on her neck. "If this is what your voice does to me, then I am in serious trouble." She closed her eyes as she felt arms wrap around her waist.
"Now that I'm able to hold you I may never let go."
"Then don't."
"I have to."
"Why?"
A loud rumple interrupted the silence.
"Because I have to feed you."
"Aren't you hungry? I was going to make you a plate."
"No, I'm fine." She laid kissed along Gabrielle's neck. "I can't wait to have you."
"Me either."
Xena pulled back, making Gabrielle turn. "What?"
"I don't want you to think I just want you for....well, I mean this isn't just physical for me."
"I know that. I know you love me, you have proven that to me in more then enough ways."
"I just wanted to let you know. I can't help it. I see you and my blood boils." She leaned closer. "You better conserve your energy because you are going to need it." She pulled Gabrielle to her.
"Oh really." She felt her body tremble as Xena's gaze swept over her.
"Oh yeah, definitely." She outlined Gabrielle's lips with her own before taking them.
"I think I may be in trouble."
"Count on it."
Gabrielle jumped back onto the table, legs wrapping around Xena. She pulled her to her body and leaned her head down to run kissed along Xena's neck and collar bone.
Xena closed her eyes and moaned. "Gabrielle." It wasn't more then a soft sigh but it was heard.
Gabrielle was glad that Xena hadn't changed back into her leathers. The shift gave a much better look to things. She closed her eyes as her hands trailed up Xena's sides to cup a breast in each. Running a thumb over a nipple, she heard a gasp. "You like that huh."
"Gabrielle we can't do this yet."
"I know."
With every ounce of self control and with a warriors patience, she pulled away and backed up.
"I'm sorry." Gabrielle closed her eyes. "Tomorrow then." She opened them to see a smirk on Xena's face. "What?"
"Its nice to know I'm not the only one suffering."
"Are you kidding! Have you seen yourself lately?" Her eyes darkened. "I think its you who will need the energy because I plan on ravaging you completely until I get my fill." Her eyes ran up and down Xena's body. "Although I don't think I ever will."
"Get your fill?"
"Yeah." She backed up. "Lets eat."
Xena arched an eyebrow.
"Some food."
Xena smiled and moved forward and handed Gabrielle a plate. "Eat up bard." She took a minute to nibbled on a delectable ear. Sliding behind Gabrielle she ran her hand up the bard's body till she cupped a breast in each, nipples straining against her palms. She squeezed gently and continued to nibble on her ear. "Only fair. You warmed me up I should return the favor."
Gabrielle couldn't control her body. She felt Xena's lower body rubbing against her and found herself pushing back against the contact. "Xena."
"Hmm?"
"I need you."
"Yes." Her hands lowered to run up Gabrielle's shift. She closed her eyes as her hands felt warm softness bath her fingers. "Oh Gabrielle."
"Xena please."
Xena's head raised up when she heard voices outside. She pulled away from Gabrielle and sat down. "We have company."
Eve walked in, noticing the two women right away. "Am I interrupting something?" She smiled. "I hope so. You know its forbidden until after you're joined. Even if you had before."
Gabrielle sighed. "Yeah yeah, we'll behave I promise." She laughed.
Eve shook her head and walked out.
Xena turned to Gabrielle who had her back to her as she covered a plate. She stood up and walked to the bard. "You okay?"
"I'm fine. Can't walk, but I'm fine." She smiled.
"Sorry."
"Don't be." She kissed her. "Now go do something before I take you to our hut and never let you out."
Xena chuckled. "Tomorrow we finish this. I was ready to tonight."
"So was I."
"Guess that means we're supposed to wait."
"Thank god its tomorrow. I don't think I could last any longer without having you."
"Ditto." She back up and headed toward the doorway. "I'll sleep in the extra hut tonight. I don't think I'll be able to handle you sleeping next to me. Feeling your soft skin against mine and not being able to do anything about it."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah."
"Where you going so fast?"
"For a walk."
Gabrielle smiled. "Mmm hmm."
"Speak for yourself bard."
Gabrielle blushed.
"Planning a little trip to your hut huh?" She raised her eye brows before walking closer, giving Gabrielle a quick kiss on the cheek. "See you tomorrow."
"Yep." She watched her walk out and closed her eyes.

"Gabrielle."
She swatted the hands away. "No, sleeping."
"Up now."
Silence.
She jumped when cold water was splashed over her face. "What?" She saw Xena. "That was cruel."
"But it was the only way to get you awake."
"Yeah but still." She sat up. "What time is it?"
"Early afternoon. Why are you smiling."
"Do I need an answer."
"No."
Gabrielle stood up and stretched.
"Ah Gabrielle."
"Huh?"
Xena pointed down.
Gabrielle looked confused as she looked down at herself and saw that she wasn't wearing any clothing. "Oh yeah, I took a bath and I guess I fell asleep."
Xena reached forward. "You're hair is still wet."
"Is it from the water?"
"No. Come on, lets get things ready."
"What do we still have to do?"
"A few things. Get decorations up. I have to do something."
"Like?"
"You'll see." She winked and walked out.
Gabrielle grabbed her brush and ran it through her short hair. As she walked by the closet, she stopped and opened them up. Her eyes opened wide when she saw a bunch of outfits. Grabbing a white outfit, she closed the doors and started to dress.

Xena looked up in time to see Gabrielle walking towards her. Her eyes took it
all in at once.
There was a short strip of a shirt covering Gabrielle's chest that pushed up her breasts, leaving plenty of cleavage. The skirt hung around her waist and over her knees. There was a light chain around her waist. She wore sandals that laced up her calves and around her ankles.
Xena licked her lips and stood up. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." She sat down next to her on the bench. "I found it in the closet."
There was a moment of silence as they both listened to the sounds around them.
Xena turned to see her mother come up to them. "Morning."
"Morning." She sat down. "You guys excited?"
Gabrielle smiled. "Do you have to ask?" She looked around. "Although I think everyone else is more excited then us."
"Gabrielle what are you wearing?"
"Morning mother." She turned to see her mother behind her.
"Where did you get that?"
"I'm not little anymore mother. Relax." She leaned her head against Xena's shoulder.
Cyrene stood up. "Lets go get something to eat, leave these two to themselves." She grabbed Hecuba's arm and led her off.
Xena shook her head. "You're mother is a little too protective."
"I know. Someone needs to tell her she doesn't need to be. I have you to watch over me now."
"Yes you do. Always and forever."
Gabrielle took a deep breath. "It can't get much better then this."
"Just wait."
"What does that mean?"
"Just that you should never jinx a good moment. It can almost always be ruined."
"Oh yeah, I know that already. Found that out yesterday in fact." She kissed the warrior's shoulder.
A woman came walking closer to the pair. "Xena. We need to work on..." She saw Gabrielle. "...your thing."
"Thing?" Gabrielle looked at Xena. "What thing?"
"I told you it was a surprise." She kissed her on the forehead and stood up. "You'll see soon enough."
The woman walked away, Xena following close behind.
Gabrielle sat for a minute before she stood and went to find Eve.

Gabrielle leaned against the hut, bored out of her mind. It was the day of the
ceremony and she was excited but hadn't seen Xena since she had heard about a
surprise. The door opened and she looked up only to sigh and look back down.
"Nice to see you too." Her mother took a seat at the foot of the bed. "How are you doing?"
"Great. I can't wait till tonight."
"Yeah." She stroked Gabrielle's cheek. "Look, I'm sorry for how I treated Xena all these years. And how I treated you."
"Me?"
"When you left it took me by surprise and each time you came to visit, I saw how happy you were. I knew your place was with her." She smiled. "Even if I didn't like it. You've grown up and I need to accept that." She was pulled into a hug.
"Thank you." She pulled back. "And about Xena, if you want to feel better, apologize to her. She's softer than you think."
"Thank you." She stood. "Good luck."
"Thanks." She watched her mom walk out and stood up, walking to the mirror. She slipped off hr clothes and stood, looking at her reflection, before grabbing a white shift. As she slipped it over her head, she heard the door open. She turned quickly. "Xena."
The warrior pulled the woman into her arms. "Doing okay?"
"Great now."
"I talked to your mom just now."
Gabrielle pulled back. "Sorry, it was my idea."
"Good idea. I still don't think she likes me though."
"She's get used to it. After all, your going to be her daughter in law."
"Yep."
Gabrielle smiled.
"What?"
She shrugged. "Nothing."
"Uh huh." Her hands were on her hips. "What is it?"
"Can't I smile without something being up or wrong?"
"Oh so something is up is it."
"I could say the same about you. What is this secret you are hiding?"
"Its a surprise."
Gabrielle shook her head and looked down but her head was tilted back up.
"Trust me." She leaned down to place a soft kiss on Gabrielle's lips.
"Always."
Xena grabbed her hand. "Lets get you out of this hut." She pulled her outside.
Gabrielle took in the decorations. "Beautiful."
"Yes." Xena moved behind her to wrap her arms around her.
Gabrielle leaned her head back and sighed.
"Why the sigh?"
"Just thinking how perfect life is."
Xena nuzzled the soft neck in front of her. "Yep."
"I love you."
"Love you more."
"Love you more."
"No, love you more."
"Xena."
"Hmm?"
"This could go on forever."
"Truce then."
"Agreed." After a moment. "Love you more."
"Don't start that again."
"Why?" She turned to look at her. "Gonna punish me." She backed up.
"I just might." She raised her eyebrow.
"Oh no, I angered the great Warrior Princess." She chuckled.
"Gabrielle."
"What?"
"Run."
Gabrielle eyes widened as she turned and ran, looking over her shoulder once to see Xena following.
Cyrene looked up in time to see the two women sprinting out of the village. She shook her head and patted Hecuba on the arm. "Look."
Hecuba turned and smiled. "They'll never grow up."
Cyrene laughed along with the other woman.
Gabrielle grunted as she hit the dirt. Rolling over, she saw Xena over her. She pulled her arm forward and smiled when their bodies touched.
"I caught you."
"Yes you did. Want your pri..." Before she could finish, Xena's lips were sealed with her own.

Gabrielle stood in front of the mirror. She wore a white leather halter top that
was lined with dove feathers. It made an X in the back as her other top had. As
she looked down at the long skirt she saw the slit up both sides that showed a
thigh at each. Her belt had jewels and glitter lining it. Her boots laced up her
calf and were silver. She smiled as she took it all in. "I hope Xena likes
it."
"She's love it."
Gabrielle turned to see her mother. "It didn't hear you come it."
"I figured that." She moved closer, looking at Gabrielle's outfit. "You look beautiful."
Gabrielle smiled and lowered her head to look at her clothes. "Thank you."
"I can't believe you've grown up so much." She tilted Gabrielle's face up. "You belong to Xena now. I think you have since the day you left. I can see the love between you."
"I love her so much."
"I know." She kissed her on the cheek. "I'll see you there."
"Thank you mother." She watched her walk out and turned to the mirror. Taking a deep breath, "Show time."
Xena paced the room several times. "I can do this." She rubbed her sweaty palms on her black skirt. Her clothes mirrored that of Gabrielle except the color. Where Gabrielle's was white, hers was black with raven feathers at the top. She had gold boots instead of silver. Taking a deep breath, "Show time."
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Cyrene and Hecuba took a seat next to the altar, smiles on both of their faces.
They turned to each other and smiled as they both felt a tear fall down their
face.
The music drums started slow and steady as the doors to hut were opened. Xena walked out and turned to Gabrielle as she walked out. Even with a veil on their faces, they couldn't take their eyes off each other. They joined hands and walked down the aisle.
Joining Eve at the top they bowed and saw her take a seat. A woman walked up the steps and stood in front of them. She smiled down at each and bend down. "Bout time," she whispered.
Gabrielle kissed her cheek. "Thank you for coming Solari."
"Pleasures all mine. I'm so happy that I'll be able to finally join you two. As my villages holy woman, it is my privilege." She took a step back till the two women stood on the top step.
Gabrielle turned to Xena and saw the warrior already looking at her.
"Thank you all for being here. I for one have been expecting this for a long time." She winked at her own joke. "We are about to join these two women forever in this life as well as the next. A soul mate is someone who is your other half. Someone you can't be without. These two women are lucky enough to find that love. Let us bow our heads and say a prayer to Aphrodite and Artemis."
They all bowed their heads.
"We pray for you to watch over your chosen and her chosen." She smiled. "A love this pure can only be blessed by you. We thank you for putting these two together Aphrodite. They live for each other. Separated they would only be half. Let what power put them together, protect them for eternity." She turned to them. "Turn to each other."
They were already facing each other.
"Do you promise live each day cherishing each other?"
They nodded.
Solari closed her eyes as she tipped her head back, silently chanting. She stepped back.
A flash appeared in front of the pair. Aphrodite smiled at them. "Finally." She a hand out to each. As her eyes closed, a flash covered each palm. When it dimmed, there was a gold band on each. She grabbed one and handed it to Xena. The other she handed to Gabrielle. She kissed each on the cheek and stepped back, motioning for Solari to continue.
"It is blessed. Take your ring and put it onto each others fingers."
Xena slipped the ring on Gabrielle's finger and kissed the band. As she felt Gabrielle slip hers on, she couldn't hold it anymore and burst into tears. She wasn't the only one. Tears ran down Gabrielle's face as well.
"From this moment on, you are now joined. Congratulations."
Xena pulled Gabrielle to her and held her tight as she buried her face into her neck. "I love you so much."
"I love you too......wife." She smiled.
Xena pulled back, wiping the tears from Gabrielle's face
"Now take her home, she's your wife."
Xena grabbed Gabrielle's hand and together they walked down the stairs to their hut.
Gabrielle walked in and looked around. "I don't know why I'm nervous." She turned around. "Its just you right."
"Right."
Gabrielle took a deep breath and just looked at Xena.
"What?"
She smiled. "Nothing. I just can't believe you're mine."
"Always have been." She walked closer. "Wanna help me with this." She pulled Gabrielle's hands to her.
Gabrielle closed her eyes as her hands felt warm skin. "Gods this feel so right." Her eyes opened. "Never leave me."
"I promise." She helped Gabrielle out of her clothing. Once their clothes were removed, she scooped Gabrielle up and laid her gently on the bed.
"I have waited for this moment for so long. I love you so much."
Xena was silent for a minute, before she kissed Gabrielle with all the love she had. "I love you too, Gabrielle, now and forever."
