PART 3
***
Gabrielle jumped down from Argo, sliding down Xena's body in the process. She
landed on the ground softly and looked up at the warrior. She smiled.
"Thanks."
Xena nodded and let go of Gabrielle, grabbing the reins.
Gabrielle started to look around for fire wood. "Xena."
"Hmm?" She sat down, building a fire pit.
"I've been thinking."
"Bout what?"
Gabrielle looked up at her. "You and me."
"What about you and me?" She still hadn't looked up.
"Ephiny."
Xena looked up. "What about Ephiny?"
"Well, according to her, half the Amazon tribe think we're lovers."
"That so?"
Gabrielle nodded. "Strange isn't it."
"Why?" She dropped a heavy stone and started to dig a hole. "Why, Gabrielle?"
"I've noticed things, but you haven't."
Xena stopped and looked up. "What things.... Gabrielle what are you talking about?"
Gabrielle leaned forward. "Obviously you have no idea so why don't I drop it."
"Fine by me." She returned to her hole.
'Oblivious my warrior.' Gabrielle threw a few sticks near the fire as she stood up and walked into the woods. "I'm going to go get some wood."
Xena didn't reply.
Walking into the dark, she stopped so that she was far enough away but not too close. She watched Xena move around the camp. 'Wonder what she does when I'm not there.' She stood, leaned up against a tree and watched.
Xena grabbed the sticks and threw them onto the smoking fire. Once a flame started she added a few more pieces of wood, then sat back to wait. "Hurry up Gabrielle."
Gabrielle jumped and looked around for wood.
Xena turned to see Gabrielle walk into the camp. "What took you?"
"Sorry, but not everyone has your skills." She grunted as she dropped the load near the fire, and watched Xena apply some to the fire.
"Didn't get much."
"So I'll go back."
Xena looked over at her. "You in a mood?"
"Why?"
"You're grouchy."

Gabrielle rolled over onto her side, her eyes opening, and smiled as she saw
Xena still asleep. Looking up at the sky she saw that it was still a few hours
before dawn. Sitting up, she slowly crawled to Xena and lay down next to her.
She smoothed back a piece of Xena's hair and smiled as she watched her sleep. "You'll never know how much I love you."
No answer.
Moving closer she lifted up Xena's covers to slip underneath. Backing against Xena, she jumped when a hand was thrown over her waist. She turned around to see Xena looking at her. "Hi, did I wake you?"
"You sneak in here and bump me, then ask if you woke me?" She smiled. "Course not."
Gabrielle looked away. "I was just....that is I mean I...." She looked up into those blue eyes. "I just wanted to be near you." That was a true an answer as ever.
"I don't mind." She laid back down and waited till Gabrielle turned away from her, then put the arm around her once again.

When Gabrielle woke again, she noticed two things. One, was that her warrior was
gone. Two, she hadn't been gone that long. The furs held her warmth and smell.
She rolled over and buried her face in the scent of her warrior.
She heard footsteps enter the camp and turned, expecting Xena, but seeing one dark haired man instead. "Who are you?" She sat up and grabbed for her staff but it was across the fire on her own bedroll.
The man walked closer. "Who am I? I don't think you need to worry bout that now, sweet thing." He walked even closer.
"Sweet thing?" She stood and looked around her. Bending down to grab a knife, she was pulled back against him. She jumped when the coldness of the blade hit her neck. She held still. "I wouldn't. Xena isn't far and she..."
"Xena huh. Well, if she's near. Why don't you call her?"
Silence.
"That's what I thought." He turned her so that she was facing him and smiled. "I don't see any fear in your eyes."
"That's because there isn't." She brought her knee to his crotch and slipped free when his hold slackened. She backed away to look at him.
He looked up at her and drew his sword. "Wanna play rough huh?" He smiled. "I can play rough." He lunged and she sidestepped him, watching as he hit the dirt.
"You don't want to do that." She started to move towards her staff.
"Oh and why not?"
Gabrielle smiled as she looked past him.
He shook his head and widened his eyes when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He spun around, dagger in hand. It was immediately knocked out.
Gabrielle walked forward. "Bout time."
Xena kicked the man across the camp. "If you had you staff near you, we wouldn't be in this predicament." She smiled teasingly.
"Oh, I see. Always my fault."
"Can't blame it on me."
"Why not?"
Xena smiled.
"Whatever." She shook her head and watched Xena pour water on the guys face.
He jumped awake and looked up at her. "Who?"
"Xena."
His eyes grew wide and he turned to Gabrielle.
Xena placed a foot at his throat. "I want you to leave now before I choose to kill you."
Gabrielle sat down. "She just might do it. I mean look how crazy she looks."
The man was let up and fled the scene.
Xena turned to Gabrielle. "Crazy?"
Gabrielle shrugged.
Xena kneeled and crawled over to Gabrielle. "We'll see about that." She pulled her towards her and started to tickle her.
Gabrielle tried to wiggle free but it was no use. She felt tears forming in her eyes.
Xena grunted as she was rolled over. "Had enough?"
"Oh no. I'm bound determined to find your ticklish spot."
"I doubt it."
"Oh?"
"I'm not ticklish."
"Everyone is ticklish somewhere."
"Not everyone."
Gabrielle looked her over. "Then I'll just have to find it on my own."
"You think so huh."
"I do."
"And what makes you think that I would allow that?"
Gabrielle tilted her head to the side and smiled sweetly. "You mean you wouldn't."
"No."
"Then I'll just have to force you."
"Force me huh. That could be dangerous. You never know what I'd do if I was forced to undergo...tickling." She smiled.
"I think I can handle it." She straddled Xena's waist. "Can you?"
Xena's smile dropped when she saw the look in Gabrielle's eyes. "This is no longer about tickling is it?"
"You catch on quickly warrior." She leaned down, elbows resting on Xena's chest.
"I do." She reached up and pulled Gabrielle face down onto hers.
Gabrielle pulled back. "I don't know. I mean I have no idea where your lips ha......"
Xena silenced her as she covered her mouth with her own. "I've told you before Gabrielle. There is a time to talk and a time not to."
Gabrielle leaned back. "Which is this?"
"A time not to."
"Ah." She smiled as she leaned down to touch those lips again.
"Hey!"
Gabrielle stopped and turned to see Xena on top of Argo just looking at her. "What?"
"This way." She pointed to a trail to the left.
"I know that."
"Which is why you were going right."
"I was seeing if you knew where you were going." She turned to the left trail.
"Uh huh." Xena moved Argo and shook her head.
