“Wanna watch a movie or something?” Robyn asked her new friend, Camille.
Candy and the others had gone downtown to perform their latest stuff as part of
the opening and ending ceremony of a hockey game championship. It was late,
around 8 o clock in the evening. The sun had already gone down and the sky was
dark and cloudy.
“Sure…” Camille looked through the movie titles on the shelf.
“This one? Queen of the Damned.”
“Uh, ok sure. You a big fan of vampire stuff…heh?” Robyn raised her
eyebrow amusedly. She popped the DVD in the player. “I like this movie myself
too…hold on, I’m gonna go get changed kay?”
“Ok.” Camille said.
Robyn’s car had broken down and also, some idiot poked some holes in
the tires, thus handicapping the car. Now she couldn’t drive Camille back to
Rodesbury Street, instead, Robyn suggested that Camille stay the night and Candy
would get her home by tomorrow afternoon. Camille had hesitantly agreed to this
only a moment ago.
A few minutes later, Robyn reappeared in a large t-shirt and loose long
pants. “Alrighty, let’s watch this thing.” She hit “play” on the
remote and the DVD began its movie. Robyn sat down right next to Camille on the
small blue couch in the den. The plasma TV began to emit loud blares from the
stereos around them. Robyn turned off the mini lamp and they were surrounded by
darkness, whereas the only light source was from the plasma itself.
Camille noticed how close Robyn was next to her on the couch. She could
feel the warmth seep from Robyn to her cold skin. Then slowly she turned her
gaze upwards to look at Robyn. Robyn’s eyes were on the T.V screen and Camille
became lost in the sea of emerald in Robyn’s eyes. It was just simply so
bright and everlasting…so alive. Camille on the other hand, was so dead…but
the very presence of Robyn made her feel alive like never before.
Robyn felt a pair of blue eyes was watching her. She suddenly felt like
the eyes were looking right at her own very soul. She shuddered involuntarily.
Camille suddenly grabbed some wool blankets and wrapped it around Robyn until
she was snug. “Better? Or shall I scoot over there and keep you warm?”
Camille offered, smiling.
“Uh?” Robyn was confused. Camille suddenly seemed different to her.
“I…uh, I’m fine, thanks.” But Camille didn’t hear her, and she scooted
closer and closer to Robyn and pulled her in her arms. “There…better?”
“Um…yeah?” Strangely enough, Robyn felt extremely cozy in
Camille’s arms. It felt like it was meant for her…Robyn felt no need to
resist this strange behavior. It was nice…for once in her life, Robyn felt
cozy and at peace. Together they watched the Queen of the Damned.
Hours went by, and the movie ended. Not long since the credits began to
roll up, Robyn had fallen asleep in Camille’s arms. Only when Robyn began to
snore softly, did Camille realize she was asleep. She looked down at the
sleeping form, and tried to remember the last time she actually felt like this,
so calm and at ease, but she could not remember. Then she glanced over to a
framed photograph of Robyn and, Camille assumed, her family. Family…Camille
whispered to herself. Family…
“Daddy!” A little girl no older than ten shouted in joy. Percadios
immediately dropped his bindle and grabbed his daughter. “Hey there, kid.”
He laughed. “Miss me?” “Did
you bring me something?” She excitedly asked. “Daddy? Did you?” “Is that all I’m good for around here??” He joked. “Of
course, here…” Percadios reached in his bindle and pulled out a single
leather necklace. It had a blue and red stone symbol attached to the middle.
“This is a very…very special necklace. Mind you, don’t you go around
losing it ok?” “Wow!” She took the necklace in her hands. “Where’d you get
it?” He stood up and looked at Clemmsytra, his wife, and said, “This is a
symbol of our family, should you get lonely or apart, look upon this and know
your family is always with you. Everyone who is part of this family wears this
symbol.” “Daddy…!”
Her eyes gleamed with joy. She placed the necklace around her neck. “I love
you! I love my family!” “That’s
right, Alex.” He laughed. “That’s right…that’s the sprit.”
Camille unconsciously stroked Robyn’s long blonde hair. Family…what
was family? Camille tried to remember. It was so long…so long ago in ancient
Greece, where she used to live, as a human.
“Family is who you are. Family is
who we all belong to. Family is made of people who love each other and help each
other even in bad times,” Echoed a voice in Camille’s head. “Never
forget that....” “…but I forgot…I
forgot.” Camille whispered to herself. “I forgot, Daddy…I’m so sorry! I
forgot, Daddy!”
Daddy…
“What’s with all this emotional crap, Alex?” A voice boomed out
from behind. “You cannot be possibly tellin’ me the, oh- so great Alex, is
now some kind of emotional wreck and a coward?”
Camille instantly whirled around and in doing so, she awoke Robyn. Robyn
groggily pushed herself up and blinked a couple of times. “H-huh? What?” she
yawned. But then she noticed Camille wasn’t looking at her but towards
whatever was behind the couch. She noticed that Camille was acting pretty tensed
up. Then she looked at the figure Camille was staring at. She gasped, Aries?
“Hello there, we meet again…Robyn.” Aries smirked. “Boys!” He
signaled to the others behind him and they quickly surrounded the couch. Then he
averted his eyes to the tall, raven haired female before him. There were hatred
and malice in her eyes and he chuckled, “Same old Alex…”
“Alex…” He laughed scornfully. “What’s this? You snuggling’
with a mortal? Your own enemy?”
Camille hissed, “Aries…if you hurt her…”
But Aries put his hands up, “No no! You ain’t in any position to give me no
orders! At least, not Camille. Only Alex is my master.”
“Alex is gone…gone, get it?” Camille slowly stood up, “She’s
dead…and will stay that way. I’m Camille…like it or not.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Alex.” He laughed. “See buddy, I
know about this ring of yours and what it caused. I know that Alex is still
alive…Alex is YOU.”
Camille glared at Aries furiously. Robyn nervously glanced back and forth
between them. She slowly backed away, Camille was starting to scare her…the
expression she had on, was so hateful. This wasn’t the Camille Robyn knew so
far, but something about Aries made her feel like something terrible…terrible
would happen…right here…right now! Suddenly the men behind Robyn grabbed her
and forced her onto her knees.
“Robyn!” Camille snapped her head to Robyn. Then slowly she returned
her gaze to Aries, “Don’t do this.” She warned. “I may not be the Alex
you knew, but I have not forgotten everything.”
“True.” He said. “But uh, then again, you’ve gotten soft and out
of shape over these years…”
“Don’t.” Camille clenched her jaws. Her whole body was tense and
ready for anything. Camille wasn’t about to allow the past to overtake
her…especially not Robyn. She felt sorry that she bothered to make her
existence known to Robyn, thus endangering her to the terrible evil of the past.
“Robyn…don’t move.”
“Don’t what?” Aries mocked. “Oy! Get ‘er here now!”
“No!” Camille shouted. “Don’t you touch her!” But the men
dragged Robyn in front of Aries and returned to their positions. “Ah, here is
the lovely maiden.” He smiled at her rather mischievously. “You know…I
didn’t finish what I wanted to do…” Then he pulled out a small knife and
pressed it on Robyn’s neck, “Hey Alex! See here…one move and the bitch
gets it!”
Robyn whimpered. This was one BAD dream…she hoped. Let it be a
dream…let this be a dream. But the knife pressing on her neck pierced her skin
and she knew it was not a dream. It was real, all right. She nervously looked at
Camille, who looked back at her and mouthed the words, Sorry.
Camille stood still. “Aries, I swear…” But he interrupted,
“Uh-uh! No talking! I’m the talkin’ guy here! Or else, I’ll silt her
throat and you can watch me lick it all up!” Robyn swallowed; the knife was
pressed tightly against her skin, causing some blood to spill. Camille was
still, but she burned with hatred inside. How dare this man do this to Robyn, she thought hatefully. Robyn had
done nothing to deserve this. Don’t
worry, just stay still and I’ll try to get us out of this…She thought.
Aries impatiently glanced at the clock on the wall, “Twelve o’
clock…where the hell is he? He’s already an hour late.” He demanded. Lee
whimpered, “I-I don’t know…I-I’m s-sure he’ll be here…”
“You better be right!” He snarled.” I’m not gonna wait
forever…if that brat makes me wait…”
At that instance, Riley and Monique came right in. “Aries…got it!”
“Give it here! Hurry!” He held out his hand and Riley slapped down a
silver engraved dagger. It had a skull on the bottom with ruby eyes and a green
serpent wrapped around the handle. Camille gasped as she realized what the
dagger was…the Soul Dagger. She had seen it once before, but it had been a
long time ago. So this was Aries’ plan…she thought.
“Oh boy! I’m so excited!” He laughed maliciously.
“Alex…Alex…soon you’ll be back to normal!”
Camille felt the men behind her close onto her. She then cast a final
look at Robyn and said, “I’m sorry…this had to happen. Please
understand…” Robyn just stayed still, confused about everything that was
going on. She didn’t damn well understand the big deal between Aries and
Camille. This sucked, Robyn thought regretfully. If only she could comprehend
whatever was going on. Camille was thrown immediately onto the floor before
Aries. Aries then raised his dagger and Camille felt the dagger enter her chest.
She howled in pain, and Aries laughed evilly as she twitched and groaned on the
floor. The dagger began to glow…brighter and brighter like rays of sun and
everyone attempted to shield their eyes from the blinding glow of the dagger.
Robyn felt herself being thrown back. Camille had just gotten stabbed by
Aries! “No!” She screamed. “No!” But Aries’ laughter drowned out her
cries…
Then the blinding light disappeared and the room returned to its dark
setting. Aries slowly reached over and removed the dagger. He waited anxiously,
his eyes locked on the figure lying on the floor. Robyn managed to get back on
her knees, and she quickly caught a glimpse of Camille still on the floor.
Everyone was silent and the room was eerily dark and quiet with the occasional
whistles of the wind from outside. All eyes were locked on Camille, expecting
something to happen.
Then very slowly, the figure pushed herself off the floor, and onto her
feet. Pushing her hair back and stretching her arms, she yawned loudly.
“Wha’ y’all starin’ at? Theres nuthin’ to look at!”
Aries gaped at the figure before him, jaws hanging open. Here he was,
standing before the woman that had captured his soul. It was like a dream come
true, only it did come true. His non-beating heart seemed to leap with joy.
“A-Alex?” He hesitantly said.
“What the hell do you think?!?” She snapped. “’Course I’m
Alex…the Conqueror!” She examined the stab wound in her chest, “Hmph,
that’ll be there for a while…”
“…Then you are back.” He smiled satisfied. “…S-so what shall we
do? Slaughter humans again? Seize the world? As a matter of fact, lets go after
the government!”
“…you mean you haven’t learned anything after all these times, you
worm?” She spat on the carpeting. “Fool! The world is already advanced…too
advanced. We will need to take this slowly one step at a time.”
“Uh?” He couldn’t believe it. As much as he liked having Alex back,
but this was absurd. She was extremely ungrateful, considering he went to all
this trouble for the reawakening. “Uh…”
“Stop your stuttering.” She rolled her eyes. “I haven’t forgotten
anything…especially when I was that …disgusting personality, Camille. Oh
fuckin’ gods! It was the worst experience…if I had known the stupid ring
would do that to me…”
“…Ok.” He backed off slightly. “…is she destroyed?”
“…Nope. As long as this stupid ring exists, Camille exists.” Alex
held up her ring, which was now colored black. “But…that sword reversed the
effect, and now, I am back while the other me is dormant.” She fingered her
ring and turned it, “Now stupid ring…you can’t betray me now…heh.”
“Alex…” Aries finally spoke again. “I…I’ve got a present for
you…um, it’s for the celebration that you have returned to us.”
“Really?” She said unimpressed. “I’m hungry.”
“I thought you would be.” He motioned for Riley to get Robyn. “Get
‘er here now!” Robyn felt herself being once again, hoisted roughly and
forced to kneel before Camille. “You can feed on your first flesh, right here,
right now.”
“Ah, Robyn!” She exclaimed excitedly. “I’m sure you’ll taste
really good, since considering Camille is kinda, actually me. So I kinda know
how I should feel about you…” She knelt in front of Robyn and raised her
chin, “Don’t worry…I won’t bite. I’ll just…heh, USE you.”
“…C-camille…why are you doing this?” Robyn whimpered. She
completely did NOT understand what the hell her own “friend” was doing to
her. One minute she was all friendly and kind, and the next…cold and cruel.
“A-Alex?” She was confused. She thought the name, Alex, was
Camille’s name when she was once alive a long time ago. If so, this must
be…Robyn slowly made the connection based on what she remembered from when
Camille had told her about her life. So this must be Alex…the vampire Alex,
the evil Alex…
“Yes…I’m the true Alex.” She laughed. “Yes, smart girl. I can
see why Camille…uh, I liked you from the start. The gods must have it that you
be mine…mine forever!”
“W-what?!?” Robyn said startled. “What are you talking about?”
“…Oh fuckin’ gods…” She rolled her eyes. “Tell me how you
feel…about Camille…me.”
“W-what you mean? We…we’re just friends.” Robyn swallowed. But
Alex reached out and grabbed her arm. “Don’t lie to me. You do feel
something, don’t you?”
“I-I…” She blinked. “Umm…?” The question had caught her off
guard. It was totally out of the blues and Robyn opened her mouth as if to say
something, but no words came out. “Enough
with your petty stuttering.” She shouted and slapped Robyn across her cheek
hard. “I know…I know how you feel and don’t you ever deny it! Don’t deny
that…when we were on that couch…you liked it when I held you…”
“HOLD IT!!” Aries interrupted. “What the hell are you talkin’
about? W-wha…y-you…she uh, she’s a GIRL! Wha-what in the world is this?!?
What’s goin’ on!?!”
She glared at him, “Quiet! Aries, I decide who I like. For your
information, you were just a toy, used and now useless.” And she turned to
face Robyn and crossed her arms, cockily. Aries was stunned and hurt, why…what
in the world…this wasn’t the Alex he
knew before. He cast a jealous glance at Robyn and wished he could kill her on
the spot. Then, maybe Alex would be his, once again. He would wait…just wait
patiently…for his chance.
“…I w-was just glad to be warm. It was cold, you know that.” Robyn
said in a small voice. Alex rose to her feet, towering over Robyn. “Ah but
that’s not the whole truth…and you know it.”
Indeed, Alex was right. Robyn knew she couldn’t deny there was
something there between them. Every time she looked at Camille/Alex, she felt so
captured and so whole. Like she’d found completion at last, and she was
comfortable like never before in her life. When Camille would occasionally touch
Robyn’s arm, she felt goose bumps rush up her arms like wildfire, and the very
presence of Camille made Robyn feel something she never felt before…not even
with Tim. Tim never made her feel like this. But now, gone was the Camille she
knew, and in her place, was the horrible monster, Alex.
But Robyn wasn’t about to admit that to the cocky Alex.
Strangely enough, she felt like she should hate Alex…but found she could not.
Damn human emotions, she thought bitterly to herself. If only Camille was still
here…
“Well whatever, the only person I really liked was Camille…not you,
Alex.” She said with newfound boldness. She didn’t know why she was boldly
talking to her, but she had nothing to live for. Camille, according to Alex, was
dead. It wouldn’t matter if Robyn died or not, at least, she wasn’t about to
give Alex the satisfaction of thinking that Robyn was some kind of mindless
servant that did everything Alex told her to do.
“…I AM Camille, duh!” Alex laughed scornfully. “Boy, you sure got
spunk…I like that.”
“No you’re not, and you will never be.” Robyn tore her gaze away
from Alex. “I believe, I know, and I trusted Camille…because she was who
impressed me. Not you.” Alex’s expression dropped and she felt her anger
rise. “W-why you…stupid brat.” And she slapped Robyn even harder,
“That’ll teach you…never talk to me like that again. From now on, you are
mine…like it or not. You’re mine…and that means you will obey me even if I
have to beat the hell out of you.” Robyn remained silent as her cheek grew red
from the slap Alex had given her.
“Get her on her feet.” Alex ordered. Aries motioned for the men to
pull Robyn up on her feet. Robyn slowly stood up, not facing Alex, but stood
there staring at her feet. There was no way she was gonna escape, so might as
well get with the program for her sake. But she wasn’t gonna give Alex the
satisfaction at all…after all, Alex was a monster. Camille wasn’t. But, who
knows…maybe Camille was really Alex after all, and this was just a fake front
put on by Alex.
“Now…Aries.” She commanded, “I want you to take your boys…and
take a trip to uh, the Mayor’s office and pay him a visit. Once there, extend
my so-called regrets and kill him.”
“Y-yes, as you wish.” He said rather moodily. “And then what?”
“…By god, you really are a moron.” She threw her hands up in the
air. “Gosh, duh! Appoint someone Mayor and then, we’ll control the town. It
doesn’t like…take an idiot to figure that out. Now…GO, unless you wanna be
screwed up.” He left quickly scowling and the others disappeared right after
him.
