Part Three

Robyn awoke with yet another hangover, but this time, it was ten times worse than the day before. Her head felt as if it was about to explode into tiny little pieces. When she went to Sami’s flat, they had spent the whole day and night drinking vodka and rum. Drunk, Robyn had retold the tale of Tim and they all giggled insanely every three seconds. Sami had stood up and pushed over Chloe and poured rum all over her shirt and said, “That’s Tim…all bloody!” And the rest of the group exploded in laughter until oxygen became an issue.

Robyn heated some potato soup and grabbed some Advil. Today she needed to go shopping for some meat for tonight’s dinner. Robyn had awoken at three-thirty and needed to prepare the steaks by 6 o’clock. Candy and the rest of the Amazons were coming over for some bites before they hit the streets once again to play music for the local Ice hockey game downtown.

She switched on the T.V for the weather news, and ate her potato soup as quickly as possible. It was sunny, clear sky and the temp was around 75 degrees outside. Perfect, she thought, to eat outside instead of inside this stuffy apartment.

The red Eclipse was now seen speeding its way to the “Barney’s Meats” shop. The “OPEN” sign was seen on the glass door. Robyn walked in and noticed many variations of meats. Barney or whoever was supposed to be behind the counter wasn’t there yet, and Robyn supposed they would be back soon. She browsed the meats and made mental notes to ask the butcher which ones were better than the other. There were “Black Angus” and “Tenderloin”, as well as “T-bone” and “Fresh Cuts”.

Ten minutes went by and Robyn sat on a nearby table waiting. Where the hell was the stupid butcher? Didn’t he like, know that there were customers waiting to cook dinner with the meat. There was no service bell anywhere, so Robyn stood up and called out, “Hello? Hello? Customer here!”

No reply came. Robyn sighed heavily, time was wasting and she had a whole bunch of people to cook for by six. She thought she saw a shadowy figure move in the back room so she carefully made her way there. A door was ajar and it was pretty obvious that someone had just been there for there were fresh drips of blood on the floor from, she assumed, raw meats. She poked her head in the doorway and saw a shadowy figure that was hunched over something in the corner, “Uh excuse me…I would like to—“

The lights suddenly came on and Robyn stopped speaking abruptly for the figure hunched over something jerked up and turned to face her in surprise. Robyn instantly recognized the figure, it was Camille. But there was something wrong about her face, her eyes wasn’t blue but blood red and there were blood all over her mouth. Robyn took a step back slowly, not believing what she just saw. Camille quickly wiped the blood from her lips and her eyes returned to their blue color. “Robyn...” She whispered quietly. Robyn’s eyes traveled from Camille to the stuff on the floor, it was just a heap of blood bags. “What the…hell are you?!?” Robyn slowly backed away from the room. “Oh god!” She broke in a run and attempted to open her car but it wouldn’t open. Frantically, she jabbed the key in the keyhole but kept missing.

“Robyn please…listen to me.” Camille slowly walked towards her. “I won’t hurt you…I promise. Just hear me out please?” She begged.

“Stay away from me!” Robyn whirled around to face the thing that was walking towards her. “I…I don’t know what or who you are but I’m a-armed!”

“No you are not armed.” Camille stopped. “Just…please…just hear me out.”

“Hear you out?!?” Robyn screamed. “Ha! You’re just like …the guys who killed Tim. There’s not much reason to hear you out!”

“Look, I had nothing to do with Tim’s death. That’s the truth…as for Barney; he’s in the bathroom trying to unclog the toilet.” Camille explained. “You can go inside and see for yourself.”

Robyn noticed the blue eyes had returned in Camille’s face. It was soft and full of sorrow, rather than hatred and malice that Robyn was expecting. “I…I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t need to…I suppose I owe you an explanation…A long time ago; I used to be with Aries…that guy who tried to bite you.” She turned away and walked over to an empty bench and sat down. “That is why I knew when I saw him luring you to the bathrooms; I knew he was up to something.”

She eyed the woman cautiously, “Aries…you knew him?”

”Well, it was a long time ago. Around ten centuries…and then sometimes during the 12th century, I left everything, all my life behind to pursue…full immortality. I was indeed, a wicked warrior back then, and no one could stand up to me…I was virtually unstoppable. Kingdoms fell and I conquered. Then…but the problem was, I couldn’t bear the sun, and I was vulnerable to certain holy items, I wanted to overcome such weaknesses so my enemies can never use them against me ever.” Camille held up her hand with the ring, “This is what enables me to walk in the sun as of right now…But I’ll always be…a vampire, always in need of blood.”

Robyn flinched a little at the mention of blood. She hesitantly walked to the bench and Camille smiled weakly, “Don’t worry…I won’t bite.” Robyn sat down a couple of inches away from Camille and swallowed hard, hoping this wasn’t a mistake she’d regret.

“Where the hell are you going?!?” Aries shouted. The Conqueror turned her steed around to face him, “Aries…you would dare speak that way to me? I see that you need to be taught a lesson…”

“Why can’t you take us with you?” He stood defiantly while the Conqueror looked at him amusedly.

“Because this’s something I gotta do alone dumb ass.” She laughed scornfully. “You would just slow me down and distract me.”

“Why you stupid little…” He hissed, but stopped abruptly as the Conqueror suddenly appeared in front of him in a blink of an eye, holding up a wooden dagger. “Watch it.” She warned. “I won’t tolerate such a disrespectful remark…especially if you wish to remain alive at all.”

“Alright, Conqueror…” He muttered. She glared at him with her cold, icy eyes; causing him to shudder. “I didn’t hear that.”

“YES YOUR HIGHNESS.” He shouted. She smirked, “That’s more like it…considering I’ll be ruler of the world soon.”

He watched her as she mounted the golden steed and trotted away east. “I’ll miss you, Alex…even if you are an asshole.”

“Well, you don’t seem like the others…how come?” Robyn asked.

“I was violent…and I loved it. But…the day I finally claimed the ring, somehow, something happened I, the Conqueror, would have never ever thought would happen. Not only the ring took away my weaknesses, it created a new side to me. A side known as…Camille.

…Soon after, as Camille, I wandered the lands…exploring and learning as many things as I could. I learned that I could feed on animal blood to survive, even though a human’s blood tasted better. I thought to better remain hidden and unknown to the world to avoid people that I knew as the Conqueror. Let them think I died or failed my ruthless dream, I told myself. Years went by, and I adjusted to each time…and I swore never to kill in cold blood again.”

Camille then pulled over her sleeve, “And here, is proof of my true name.” A black dragon symbol was seen on her arm, traveling down to her elbows. “I had always kept this arm covered so none would be able to tell...who I really am.”

Robyn was silent. It was unbelievable…yet, she knew it was the complete truth. Seeing Aries in action against her was enough proof that vampires really existed. “…were you once human at all?”

Camille closed her eyes, “Yes. I was once human…once someone who had feelings. I was…or am really Alex, daughter of Percadios and Lady Clemmsytra…” Then she opened them and looked at Robyn. “When I saw you…in that bar. Somehow…I was able to feel something…something I thought was gone forever. You see, no vampire can feel anything because he is dead. But…for me, somehow, I was able to feel human emotions once again. Of course I sought answers for this strange event…but I never found the answer.”

  “I see…” Robyn said. “So…uh…”

“I never meant for you to find out who I was…nor to hurt you…but when you saw me, I knew it was inevitable.” Camille looked away. “I…I’m sorry. I will not ask for your forgiveness…but let me say this, you are a special person…in all of my life, I have never ever met anyone like you and I won’t let anything happen to you at all, not ever.” She said sincerely. “…Now then I have told you. Do whatever you wish…”

“Well I won’t deny this is very disturbing to me…” Robyn started. “But I forgive you…I just wish you had told me the truth a long time ago.” She moved closer to Camille, “When I talked to you then, and now as I talk to you now, I always felt that you were a very trustworthy and would never intentionally lie or hurt anyone on purpose. And here is proof that you indeed, are a great person regardless of your past. I am very fortunate and glad to have met such a friend...”

“Really?” Camille smiled. Robyn nodded, “Let’s be friends, friends forever…and forget the past.”

“…So, Alex…you have really survived regardless of all these rumors of your death.” Aries whispered. “Do u lie to me, Lee?”

“N-no! I…I saw and heard it myself.” Lee whimpered. “Alex told it herself! She ain’t no killer anymore!”

“…Then we must reverse the spell of the ring without affecting the immortality effect.” Riley said. Aries nodded, “Yes, then our Alex will be back and soon, we will be back to our rightful glory on earth.”

Monique spoke up, “The Soul Dagger has the power to split a being in two, and also duplicate the two beings so that they are an exact copy of each other except for their personalities. The ring will be doubled, and we can take off the one on the other Alex, leaving us with the Alex we want.”

“Perfect.” Aries said. “You know how to get it?”

“Got a friend who knows how.” Monique said. “He does a lot of research on stuff like this. I’ll go right now, pay him a visit and get the sword here by three days if all goes well.”

“Do it then.” Aries nodded his consent. “Riley, you go with her…make sure it goes smoothly.” And then he walked over to Lee and grabbed him by his neck, “And as for you, you’ll continue to keep tabs on Alex…and especially this Robyn girl.”

“Y-yes count on it!” He scrambled away.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you something…” Camille sipped her coffee. They had gone to Robyn’s home soon after their talk at the butcher’s shop. Robyn had purchased several T-bones and Sirloin steaks, and a couple bags of blood for Camille.

“Sure…shoot.” Robyn was spraying the grill with a bit of charcoal gas. Camille took a deep sigh, “Well, uh…you don’t seem very sad or upset that your boyfriend’s dead.”

The question had struck Robyn still. “I suppose I should tell you why…” She said at last,” Since you told me your stuff.”

“No you don’t…sorry I was just asking.” Camille mentally made a note to herself to shut up next time.

“I’ll tell you anyway. I think it’s better for me to let it out in the open.” Robyn sighed. “Tim…yes I’m sad he’s gone but…he wasn’t a great guy to me. He left me for a stupid job in Europe…and I was hurt that he chose his job rather than me.”

       “I see.”

“Yeah. So…when he left, I had to get over him and that is precisely what I did. I told myself it wasn’t worth it to date anybody whose job was more important than his own life.” Robyn placed the steaks on the grill and covered it. “That’s why…but still, I do miss him and his stupid quirks.”

The doorbell rung and Robyn ran to answer it. Candy and everybody else had come, and they quickly surrounded Camille.

“This the one who saved you huh?” Chloe was saying. “Not bad looking…”

“So vampires do exist huh?” Amber drawled. “Prove it to us so we know Robyn’s not a nut.”

“Guys! Shut up and get away from her!” Candy was shouting. Camille gave Robyn a questioning look. Robyn nervously chuckled, “Uh, I was drunk…and I told ‘em stuff that happened…”

“Oh I see…” Camille raised her eyebrows in mild amusement. “You were drunk…”

“Yeah.” She said sheepishly. “Already I’m feeling stupid right now.”

“Ah, you shouldn’t be.” Candy wrapped her arm around Robyn’s shoulders. “Everyone gets drunk and happy at times. Hell, when I was drunk, I kissed some guy’s butt as he farted on me…now that’s a good reason to feel stupid.”

“The meat!” Robyn remembered. But then Sami announced she already checked ‘em out and flipped them. “Lookin’ good.” She commented. Then she and Joane became distracted by the T.V. which was showing Brad Pitt kissing a girl on the show. “I should be that girl!” Joane muttered. Sami gave her a weird look, “Yeah right…like he’d kiss you. Better that I be that girl!” And they broke into an argument on whoever was better suited to be kissed by Brad Pitt.

At last, dinner was ready. Robyn carried a large plate full of cooked steak and everyone took their share of the meat, along with potatoes and other foods. They ate and chatted loudly until Candy announced it was time for the group to leave for downtown.
