Crazy For That Girl
by Nyxie
Disclaimers:
I own Neal and Stevie. Yup so they look like the girls from Xena: Warrior
Princess, and I don’t own them. The boys at Ren Pics do. I’m not making a
profit off of them and I don’t plan on it. Hey one more thing. The song "Crazy For You" is Madonna’s. Not mine. I don’t have permission to use
it; but I used it anyway. No harm intended.
Sex/Violence:
Now I have been accused of writing porno, but this isn’t! There is no sex
other than a few kisses. However these are two women kissing so if it bothers
you don’t read it. I’d also like to know how you found this. If you are
under 17 then shoo! It’s just like an R-rated movie! Noper no violence.
Language/Drugs:
Hey I made it through a story with out dropping the f-bomb! No bad words. No
drugs either...another first for me!
Thanks:
I want to thank my little friend Mandy for the encouragement. My beta readers
Beck and Lisa. Sorry about the last few...they have been a tad raunchy. I am
still sticking to my guns, it’s not porn! Thank you Cindy for letting me know
that my computer trashed the first copy of this. I fixed that problem...better
disk!
"--Neal
I’m
sorry, but this is just something I have to do. You wouldn’t understand:
there’s just no way you could. I don’t know when or if I will be back. I
don’t know if I can or should come back. Best of everything to you.
Love
you always,
-S"
I
met Stevie Ridgemont on my first day of seventh grade. I was the new girl and
our teacher assigned me the seat next to her in class. Halfway through math
class I noticed her sleeping. I figured it couldn’t hurt for her to learn.
This was school after all. So, I nudged her awake; she wasn’t at all happy.
She asked me what I wanted and I was speechless. She laughed at me and told me
she liked me. On top of that she called me kid, and compared to her I was. I was
twelve, same as most of the kids in our grade; she was fifteen. Stevie had
failed sixth grade and this was her second year in seventh grade. It wasn’t
that she wasn’t bright, because she was. She just didn’t want to learn.
Through that year I presented challenges to her, I kind of made her study. At
first she resented me for it, but she passed seventh grade. The year after she
passed eighth grade in one year, and ninth, tenth, and eleventh.
Our
senior year, things were going wonderfully. Stevie had turned twenty in October
and got her own apartment. I would be eighteen in a few weeks and I was planning
on moving in with her. Stevie and I were best friends; we talked about
everything. Yeah, she was very hard to get along with, but I had always managed.
She also had a bit of a temper. I remember I had a boyfriend at the apartment.
We were one the couch when Stevie came home, and she was less than happy. She
beat the hell out of him. I asked her why and all she could say was, "He
doesn’t deserve to touch you like that..." She then blushed and looked away
from me. All I wanted to say at that moment was, "No, but you do." We
didn’t talk for about a week after that; she did apologize for her actions. I
guess in a way I was glad she came in when she did, because I didn’t really
enjoy anything he was doing: he wasn’t Stevie.
Stevie
had always tried to protect me from everything, including herself. When life got
to tough she put distance between us. I remember our Prom. She and I didn’t
have dates, but I still wanted to go. What was I supposed to do? I made her go
with me. She bitched and griped and moaned, but in the end I won out. She went
with me, only because I agreed to let her wear a tuxedo. Of course everyone had
something to say about that. The fact that what they were saying wasn’t true
really seemed to bother Stevie. Stevie defended me that night. So many times she
yelled at people, "Just ‘cos I am, doesn’t mean she is!" I kept my mouth
shut; Stevie obviously didn’t see me that way. The truth is I was in love,
with Stevie. I knew it then and I knew it before.
I
asked her once why she never hit on me. She told me that I deserved better than
her, and then she told me I was straight. As far as she knew I was. As far as I
would acknowledge I was. The years passed us by very quickly. After we graduated
I went on to business school and she was already in Bartending School. We were
going to open up a business together but she left. Now I own a bar and grill.
I’m still living in our apartment, and hoping that today I will finally get a
straight answer.
Neal
Lennon was waiting by the gate; Stevie would be coming any second. She had been
missing Stevie for almost four years. Even though she was still angry all she
wanted to do was see her. Neal caught sight of Stevie’s near six-foot frame as
she came out of the terminal. Her dark hair had grown longer and she was tanner.
Her eyes: Still the most amazing color of blue.
Stevie caught sight of Neal. She noticed her hair wasn’t long and strawberry blonde. It was cropped short and bleached blonde; Stevie had always loved Neal’s hair. Stevie thought, "
This was a mistake, I
can’t do this..." Neal spotted her and ran into her arms, placing a
small kiss on Stevie’s lips. Stevie wrapped her arms around her friend
thinking, "Steve... that was innocent! Not back a minute and she’s turning you
on!" Stevie held her close, "Gods Neal, I missed you so much!"
Neal’s
body began to tremble as she tightened her grip on Stevie’s neck, "You left
me, Stevie!" She sobbed into her friend's chest. "Why did you go?" she
asked.
Stevie
rubbed the back of Neal’s head, "I’m sorry, Neal. It was just something I
had to do." She gently kissed Neal’s forehead, "Don’t cry, I’m here
now."
Neal
pulled back, "You’re staying?" It was more of a statement than a question.
Stevie
smiled, "Wouldn’t be anywhere else." She knew Neal was angry; she’d be
angry too if Neal had walked out of her life. She also knew Neal and the way to
Neal’s heart was ice cream. "Neal, I want ice cream. Can we go to
Red’s?"
"You’re
buying, Steve." She sniffled.
"Alright,
Len." She said. Neal started to walk away, but Stevie pulled her back and spun
her around. She ran her fingers through Neal’s hair, "I liked it better
longer."
Neal
brushed Stevie’s hair out of her eyes, "I liked yours shorter." She stood
on her toes and placed a kiss on Stevie’s lips.
Stevie
wasn’t content with just a small kiss; she pulled Neal closer and deepened the
kiss. She thought, "Oh my gods what am I
doing?"
Neal
was surprised, yet still angry with Stevie. She had, however, waited four years
for this to happen and wasn’t about to let it end so soon. She slid her tongue
into Stevie’s mouth; she heard Stevie moan. She thought, "What
in the name of Ares am I doing!?"
"Get
a room!" Some punk kid yelled.
Stevie
lifted on of her arms and flipped the kid off, as she nipped at Neal’s lower
lip. She thought again, "She’s not
stopping me...but I need to stop me!" She pulled away and looked anywhere
but at Neal. "How bout that ice cream?"
Neal
thought, "How bout you?" She replied, "Yah." They decided on the ice
cream; they’d chat later.
-In My Heart-
Neal
looked across the table at Stevie, "Where have you been?" she asked.
"In
a suburb in California. I’ve been bartending at a tiki bar. It’s not that
great." Stevie told her friend. She thought a moment, "How bout you,
Neal?"
Neal
took a bit of her ice cream and began to speak, "I opened up a bar and grill
called ‘Stevie’s’. Everything would have been better if you did it with
me." She said with a hint of bitterness in her voice.
Stevie
played with her spoon and asked, "Are you with anyone? I’d love to beat down
another of your boyfriends." She had to know; it was driving her crazy not to.
She also was thinking about the kiss. "Was is just a kiss, or did it mean as
much to her as it did it me?"
"No.
I broke up with my last girlfriend a month ago." Neal stated flatly.
Stevie’s
eyes grew wide as she stammered, "Girlfriend? You’re straight!"
Neal
shook her head as she leaned across the table. She kissed Stevie softly at
first, and then deepened it. "Would a straight woman do that?" She asked as
she pulled away.
Stevie
shook her head in the negative. She stammered, "Awww fuck." She screwed up
by leaving. She knew that as soon as she left. As this day progressed it was
becoming more and more apparent.
"Stevie?
Why did you leave?" Neal asked her.
"Because
I... because you...because we..." Stevie couldn’t get the words out. She
could tell by the look on Neal’s face she understood.
"Because
you loved me, and you thought I liked men? You also thought there could never be
an us?" Neal asked. She knew, she knew what Stevie was feeling. She trusted
Stevie, she missed her, she loved her, and she wanted to be with her. Neal was
also angry with her, and hurt by her. Above all, Neal forgave her.
"Yes..."
Stevie whispered as she dropped some money on the table. She needed to get out
of there. "Can we go home and talk?" she pleaded.
Neal
got up and grabbed Stevie’s hand, "Yes."
-Crazy
for You-
It
was quiet in the apartment when they got home. Stevie was withdrawn; she
couldn’t belive that Neal was interested in her. She felt stupid for leaving
and not telling her how she felt. She came to a decision: She’d tell Neal how
she felt. The problem with that was she didn’t have a way with words. Neal
left the room for something and Stevie saw this as her chance. She slipped a CD
into the player and set it to track number five.
Neal
wandered back into the room and sat down next to Stevie. She decided that she
needed to tell Stevie that she was in love with her. She wanted to tell her she
was forgiven and that she wasn’t letting her go again. She would and now. "Stevie?"
"Yes?"
She said as she hung her head.
"I
want to tell you something. Can I?" Neal asked.
"Yes."
Stevie replied.
"I
forgive you, Stevie. I forgive you and I love you and I don’t want to be with
anyone else. Just you. I have always loved you, Steve and nothing will change
that." Neal said. She felt like she had a thousand pound boulder lifted from
her shoulders.
Stevie
smiled and pushed the play button. She let the music speak for her at first.
Swaying
room as the music starts
Strangers making the most of the
dark
Two by two their bodies become one
I see you through the smokey air
Can't you feel the weight of my stare
You're so close but still a world away
What I'm dying to say, is that
I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you
"I love you too, Neal. More than anyone or anything in the world." Stevie couldn’t say anything else, and she didn’t have to. Neal understood what she was saying. Stevie pulled Neal into her arms and gently kissed her lips. It simply meant that there would be more coming. "I love you." She whispered as the lips met.
"I love you." Neal
whispered back, "I love you." Neither of them made the move to deepen the
kiss, they just kept kissing each other softly.
Trying hard to control my heart
I walk over to where you are
Eye to eye we need no words at all
Slowly now we begin to move
Every breath I'm deeper into you
Soon we two are standing still in time
If you read my mind, you'll see
I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you
It's all brand new, I'm crazy for
you
And you know it's true
I'm crazy, crazy for you
-Epilogue-
One
day I just left. I picked up my things and left. Neal came home to an empty
apartment that night because I took everything I owned. We hadn’t spoken in
four years, although I still sent money for my half of the rent. I left a note.
I know I hurt her. I hurt her because I loved her. I love her. I also know that
Neal forgave me because she loved me. A year later our life is complete. I
don’t want to think of the four years without her: they were too painful.
However, I do love thinking about the years we had together, the ones we have
together and the ones we will have together. I love Neal Lennon with all my
heart. I can honestly say I’m crazy for that girl.
