Darkness From Space

**Aroooo,
Aroooo** rang the alarm. Megan and Caitlin were awake instantly!
"Red
Alert, Red Alert! Incoming unidentified spacecraft, all units on the alert!"
came the voice from the loud speaker.
"An unidentified spacecraft entered our planetary zone. All personnel, brace for impact in 5...4...3...2...1... IMPACT!" Suddenly, the whole base and the surrounding area shook violently under the impact of the unknown spacecraft. Megan had propelled herself over to the bed as soon as she heard the warning. Her first thought was to protect Caitlin. She braced Caitlin against the wall with her own body and covered her as best she could. After what seemed like an eternity, the shaking slowed to a halt.
"Are
you alright?" Megan asked Caitlin.
"Yes,
I’m fine Megan," She said as she smiled. "Thanks to you! We’d better
find out what that was!"
"Right!"
Megan
rushed over to the communicator and activated it by pounding her fist against
the button.
"This
is Megan, report!"
"Lt.
Ataree here Commander! An unidentified spacecraft has crashed about 20 K from
the base." Ataree reported.
"Prepare
an investigation and recovery team. Where is Rising Dawn?" Asked Megan.
"Right
here, Megan! Thanks Ataree! A team is already being assembled. Sensors read one
human life form inside," said Rising Dawn.
"Excellent!
Hold the team until we get there!" ordered Megan.
"It’s
as good as done! So you two okay?" asked Rising Dawn.
"We’re
ok! Hold the team until we get there!" ordered Megan.
"10-4
commander!" replied Rising Dawn as she signed off.
Meanwhile,
Megan and Caitlin were already on their way down to the staging area, where the
recon team was awaiting them. As they passed a window, it made Megan’s long,
blonde hair seem to shine. It matched the shine of Caitlin’s golden fur. As
they entered the room, the team snapped to attention. Their leader, a tall, full
figured redhead saluted her in the usual way by crossing her wrists in front of
her.
"Command
Sergeant Brittany reporting Commander. The team is ready when you are!" she
said.
Megan
returned the salute and said, "Good to hear Command Sergeant. All right team.
We don’t know what’s out there but it did come uninvited. So we are
presuming the intruder is hostile. Be cautious but not trigger-happy. Wait for
them to make the first move. Alright, let’s move out!" she shouted.
They
all piled into the hover cars. These weren’t ordinary hover cars. They had
special features such as armor to protect the occupants against enemy fire. As
they drove down the road, Megan and Caitlin knew they were bound for another
adventure. They wondered who or what awaited them? What dangers would they face?
They knew one thing for sure, whatever lay ahead they would face it together!
