Part
6 (Conclusion)
The
Next Day…
Everyone was busy setting up the stage for the rehearsal. Liza and Joce were sitting down for an early lunch and
talking. Rik paused what she was
doing and went over to Rah. “Hey,
you okay baby?” She asked.
Rah nodded and looked over to where Emily was seated in the front row of
the theatre.
“Just worried about Em, that’s all.”
Rah replied. Rik looked over
to her friend and nodded in agreement. Em
hadn’t spoken to anyone since the day before and had spent the night with
them. Jo also seemed to be in her
own world. The two lovers looked at
each other and sighed. Both
returned to setting up, every once and again turning to look at their friends
seemingly worlds apart.
***************
“Today’s the day. The
sun is rising and dawn is fast approaching.”
She giggled. Erin stared at
the maniac in front of her and prayed for someone or something to stop this
madness. Cole walked over to her
and leant down till they were eye to eye. “Ready
for sunrise darlin’?” She
laughed. A knock on the door drew
her away from Erin.
She opened the door to allow the person in.
Carrying a large case, Sam walked into the room.
“It’s set.” She growled. Cole
laughed and left the room. After a
few minutes, Sam spoke. “Okay,
I need to get you out of here. Once
you’re free take my bike and head over to the theatre.
Warn the others and be fast. I’ll
stall for as much time as I can.” She
explained as she fiddled with the wires. A
few moments later, Erin was free. She
jumped up and made for the door. She
turned before walking out of the room.
“What about you?” She
asked Sam.
“Never mind about me. I
want you to have happiness. I want
to stop this madness, whatever the price.”
Sam went over to the case she had brought and opened it.
Inside laid a sniper’s rifle in pieces.
“Just go, please.” She
begged. Erin walked over to her and
hugged her tight. Sam shrugged her
off and told her to go. Erin ran
from the room and jumped on the bike. It
took only a moment to reach the theatre. She
ran inside and stopped dead in her tracks as she heard the beautiful voice.
Shaking her head, she ran towards the stage.
Once on the stage she screamed Jo’s name. Everyone turned their heads to see who had screamed.
Seeing Erin, they all ran over. After
hugging for a moment she spoke: “She guys have to get out of here now.
Cole’s on her way over here to finish what she’s started.”
She rushed to say.
“Too late my little bird.”
Came a voice from behind the group.
There stood Cole in all her glory. “Dawn
is here. Knyte is dead.”
Reaching into her pocket she grabbed her two-way radio.
“Now.” Everyone
froze. A few seconds passed. Nothing
happened. “I said now!!”
Cole screamed into the radio. Still
nothing. “Guess I’ll have to
finish the job myself.” She
seethed and drew her gun. Everything
seemed to move in slow motion. Everyone
froze as the first two shots rang out. Jo
pushed Emily down and Rik pushed Rah down next to her.
Liza pulled Joce aside and, drawing her gun, moved toward Cole.
The next two shots rang out and Jo and Rik both went flying back.
Both women staggeringly stood up and started to move toward Cole along
with Liza.
“You’re going to lose Cole.”
Jo seethed.
“Give up Cole, cause we’re not going to.”
Rik added. Just as Cole
raised the gun again to fire a woman came rushing toward the stage.
She tackled Cole and the two fought mercilessly.
Three more shots were heard and blood went flying.
The pair was moving so fast and so much, that no one could tell who had
been shot. One last shot was heard,
and then everything went silent. The
pair lay motionless for a moment, before the mystery woman rose to her feet.
She was covered in blood and staggered heavily on her feet.
She made her way over to where Erin stood and reached out her hand.
Gently caressing her cheek, she leaned forward and kissed her with all
she had in her. “I love you
Erin Michaels.” She whispered
as she fell to the stage in a thud. Erin
fell to her knees and pulled the motionless woman into her arms.
Tears fell freely from her eyes as she cried.
“Please Goddess, no. NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
Erin screamed into the air. She
gently rocked the woman. “I
love you too.” Erin kept
murmuring words of love and no as she held the motionless woman.
Jo and Rik crawled toward their partners.
Rah pulled Rik to her and held her for dear life.
As Jo drew closer to Emily, she found her unmoving.
Sliding her hands around her love she rolled her over.
There in the middle of Emily’s chest was a large red blossom.
“NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!” Jo
screamed into the air. Her mind went back in time and suddenly it was Chris
lying there in her arms covered in blood. Jo’s
mind went into a spin as she clung to her love.
In her mind, her heart was dying all over again.
Tears cascaded down her face as she held her love close, rocking back and
forth.
One arm held her love close as the other held her own side.
Liza had already called for police back up and for medical assistance.
The paramedics were on their way and so were the police. Moving around her fallen friends, she went over to where Cole
lay motionless. Reaching down she
searched for a pulse. To her dismay
and relief (after all she wanted to see her pay) she found one. The paramedics arrived within moments and everyone was rushed
to the hospital with Joce and Liza following right behind.
It was finally over.
************
“Baby, you ready?”
Emily called to her lover.
“Yep, ready as I’ll ever be.”
Jo smiled at her lover and gave her a kiss.
She sat in her dressing room thinking about the past year.
They had faced horror and death and still survived.
Joce was in love. Rik and
Rah were doing great. It had been
four months since the final shoot out with Cole.
Cole was now behind bars with a sentence of four consecutive life-terms
for attempted homicide, harassment, terroristic threats, and first-degree
murder. Mike’s funeral had been a
week after the incident. Liza had
surprised everyone by singing “Amazing Grace” at the occasion.
Jo had joked that maybe she should leave police work and be her new back
up.
Now Jo sat shaking her head. “What’s
up love?” Emily asked.
“Just thinking. Have I
told you how much I love you?” Jo
asked as she drew her lover close. Their
lips met is a kiss of pure love. Joce
interrupted the two to tell Emily to get up on stage and give Jo her two-minute
warning. Jo chuckled as her lover
left. She paused for a minute.
They still hadn’t heard anything from Erin since the big showdown.
Jo took a deep breath and approached the stage.
Joce announced her arrival and she took the stage.
Just as the concert was drawing to a close, Jo spoke to her fans.
“This next one is one I wrote for the woman who holds my heart and
brought love back into my life.” Rik
nodded and the music began. Jo’s
voice floated out above the crowd and a silence fell over her fans.
I’ve
walked through life with my head down.
My
heart lain cold for so long.
I’d
lost my way…. Lost my love.
I
felt adrift through life.
Inside
my soul was empty.
No
hope of joy or happiness.
Then
you came to me in a dream.
And
all at once my heart felt full.
My
soul felt alive, my path was clear.
I’d
finally found my way…
You
gave me back the love I’d lost…
Now
each and every moment…
Of
each and every day…
My
thoughts turn to you and I am found.
No
longer fearful of tomorrow.
I
have a dream…
That
now came true.
It
was you….
Loneliness
used to rule my life.
Darkness
laid claim to my soul.
Yet
now I’m free with you here.
Together
all through our years.
My
song has voice.
My
words alive.
The
melody now lives strong.
I’d
thought I lost long ago.
But
now I find… I have a way.
My
soul is free, my heart a fire.
With
you here I am whole….
As the song faded, Jo’s voice rang out again over the mike. “Everyone, please join me in this special occasion. Tonight marks the one year anniversary for my relationship.” She walked over to the keyboard and took Emily’s hand.
Emily stared at her lover with a puzzled expression. Jo led her to the center of the stage and spoke again: “Emily Arbor, you have given me a new lease on life. You have filled my heart with love again. My soul was alone and full of pain before you, but you have lifted the darkness. Will you make me the happiest woman in the universe this night? Will you share my life and love forever? Marry me.” Jo knelt on one knee and held out a jewel box. Emily gasped as tears ran down her face.
“Yes.” She whispered.
“What
was that? I don’t think we heard
you” Rik called out over her mike. With
a wink from her and Rah, Emily looked back at Jo and yelled her answer:
“YES!!” Jo rose
and placed the ring on her love’s finger and drew her into a kiss.
The crowd went wild. Everyone
bowed and left the stage.

Epilogue
A few days later everyone sat in Jo and Emily’s living room talking about the night and discussing wedding ideas. The doorbell rang and Jo went to answer it. Opening the door, she found Erin and the mystery woman from the theatre standing before her. She moved aside and allowed them in. Jo led them into the living room. Everyone turned to see the two women who had come in the room behind Jo and a united gasp was heard.
“Hi.” Erin said. Emily ran over and hugged her friend. Erin eagerly returned the hug. Stepping back, she reached out her hand to the mystery woman. The mystery woman grabbed hold of her hand and held on for dear life. Emily returned to the couch and sat next to Jo. Everyone sat silently watching Erin and the other woman. Rik leaned over to Sarah and whispered in her ear: “My Gawd. She’s an Amazon.” Rah poked her lover and glared at her.
The tall woman chuckled and spoke for the first time: “Actually, I’m not Amazon. However I am 6’5”.” She smiled at Rik, who blushed. Erin looked to her companion with loving-kindness.
“Everyone, please hear me out before you say anything. I have a bit of a story to tell you.” Erin began. Jo grabbed a couple chairs from the other room and offered them to her guests. They gratefully accepted the offer. After making themselves more comfortable, Erin continued: “This is my partner, Samantha Chasser, Sam.” Everyone gasped, but remained silent. “As you already know, she intervened at just the right moment. What you don’t know is the whole story behind it.” Erin turned to Sam and asked her to tell the tale.
“I’m probably not the person you would want in your home, but please allow me to tell my story and I’ll go. I came back here a couple years ago. I had changed my entire life and decided to start over. I had come back in the hopes of fixing things with Erin. I knew I loved her and always had since the moment we met. Anyhow, shortly after I got back, Cole caught up with me and asked me to help her. She offered to pay me if I would kill Jo and later on she added Rik to the list. I refused her and she laughed. She told me I would help her.” Sam paused to look to Erin for support. Erin smiled and squeezed her hand.
“This was about a month after she tried running you down Jo. Anyway, She came to me again and this time she took me into the mountains. She had kidnapped my sister and planned on using her to get me to cooperate. I still refused and told her to let my sister go. Instead she killed my sister. She threatened to kill my son if I didn’t help her. I agreed. Then about a month before the scheduled date I came to the hotel room and found Erin tied up to a chair that had been rigged with a bomb. I was broken. I started forming a plan to bring her down.” She paused again to let tears fall. “I returned the day everything was to happen and released Erin. I was on my way to the theatre when I saw Cole’s car. I thought I was too late. I ran in there just in time to see Emily shot. I snapped. I had to stop her. Well, the rest you know.” Sam let the tears fall down her face for a few moments.
Clearing her throat she spoke again: “I never wanted to hurt anyone. I had changed and wanted a new life. I’m sorry. I turned the money Cole had given me over to the police and told them my tale. Erin spoke for me and I agreed to write an affidavit for the case against Cole. I was released with six months probation. I am truly sorry for everything.” Sam rose from her chair and moved to leave the house.
Jo stood and walked over to her. Reaching out her hand, she waited for Sam to notice her. Sam turned and accepted the hand. Jo pulled the woman to her and hugged her tight. “Thank you Sam.” She whispered. Turning to her friends, she spoke: “We are all still here because of you Sam. We are all grateful. You are a member of this family too now.” Jo patted the woman on the shoulder and motioned for her to sit back down. Sam sat in awe at everyone. Erin hugged her close.
“Thank you.” Sam choked as tears began anew. Everyone smiled.
Joce rose and cleared her throat. “This has been one hell of a year for all of us. I found love and that slippery bitch is taken care of. We have survived hell. Now, we face a new hell… the Knyte’s Domain Tour!!!” Everyone laughed.
