Part 1
Emily woke to the feeling of warmth and the sounds of gentle deep breathing.
Her lover’s tall form was wrapped protectively around her.
Resting her head on her hand, she turned to gaze at her love’s peaceful
form. The
past several months had been scary, confusing, and wonderful all together.
Slowly she traced the strong jaw and smooth lips of the woman who held
her heart.
Blue eyes slowly crept open and came to rest on her companion’s green.
A lazy smile appeared and she tightened her hold.
She slid her hand up and into blond tresses and drew her love close.
Lips met and melted into one another.
Rolling slightly, the younger woman came to rest beneath her.
Her hands slid over smooth skin, teasing… memorizing.
As the kiss ended, she leaned back to gaze once more into emerald pools.
“Good mornin’ Love.”
She purred.
“Mmm.
Good morning to you.”
Emily replied.
“I love you.”
Jo whispered.
Lifting up, she stretched.
Emily drank in the sight of tight muscles and tanned skin before her.
Turning slightly, Jo saw the look of hunger on her love’s face and
blushed. Bending
slightly she kissed her nose and rose from the bed.
Emily licked her lips unconsciously as she watched her partner rise and
walk into the bathroom.
Taking a breath, she fell back on the bed.
A huge smile played about her face as a feeling of absolute joy filled
her. ‘I’m
in love!’
Her eyes closed as visions of her lover filled her mind.
Jo returned to the bed and glanced at her partner.
She looked so peaceful, so happy.
Sitting down on the bed’s edge, she waited for her love to open her
eyes. Emily
instantly opened her eyes and what she saw made her heart skip a beat.
Jo sat next to her legs clad only in her jeans and socks.
Her long dark hair flowed over her shoulders, round firm breasts rested
with nipples erect from the cold room air.
Emily had to fight to stay still and not reach out to hold them, to taste
them.
“Baby… don’t look at me like that.
We have a meeting this morning and we’re gonna be late.”
Jo spoke, voice laden with huskiness.
Emily nodded and rose.
Stretching slightly, she jumped up and rushed into the bathroom.
Jo’s deep laughter filled the air as she stepped into the shower.
Grinning to herself she enjoyed the cool liquid on her flushed skin.
When she returned to the bedroom, she found herself alone.
She hurriedly got dressed and went to search out her lover.
Creeping down the hallway, she heard noise in the kitchen.
Turning round the corner, she saw Jo.
The tall beauty was knelt in front of the fridge trying to find
something. Emily
snuck up behind her lover and pinched her butt then ran.
Jo jumped at the unexpected touch and turned to see her lover bolt from
the room. Jo
was right on her heels and soon cornered the blond in the living room.
Emily looked everywhere for an escape but failed.
The gleam in Jo’s eyes was unmistakable.
“Now honey. I love you.
You don’t really want to do any…” Jo snared her partner and
long fingers began an unmerciful tickling attack.
Laughter filled the room as Emily tried to squirm away from the talented
hands. Jo
released her and sat straddling her thighs.
“Teach you to sneak up on me.”
She smirked.
Emily reached up and grabbed her partner’s waist, pulling her close.
“Ok.”
She sighed as she leaned into the muscled stomach.
Jo stood up and held out her hand.
Taking the offered hand Emily was raised up.
The two entered the kitchen and enjoyed breakfast.
After cleaning up the dishes, Jo grabbed her briefcase and keys as she
and Emily headed for the door.
She armed the new home security as they left.
**********
Jocelyn Regent stared out her office window watching the rain splash
against the window.
‘Oh great, another wonderful day.’
With a shrug, she turned to her desk and sat down.
Today was going to be a long day.
Turning to her computer she began going through the numerous e-mails left
for her over the weekend.
Ever since the press conference four months ago and the accident seven
months ago, Joce’s office had been flooded with people asking anything and
everything. The
world was curious about the sudden return to performing for Jo Knight.
The accident that Jo was still recovering from was still being asked
about also. With
everyone constantly badgering her, Joce felt overwhelmed.
Today she decided to speak with Jo and see what to do or say at the next
press conference, which was only days away.
‘Can life get any worse?’
She wondered to herself.
The record was complete and being readied for distribution.
Now she had to arrange the tour for Jo.
It had been a while and with everything that had happened, she wasn’t
sure it was such a good idea.
‘Well, I hope this meeting goes better than my weekend.’
She then began replying to the numerous written requests for information.
With each new message that she opened her mood slumped further down.
The phone rang interrupting her unpleasant task.
Sighing, she reached for the phone, regretting that her secretary was out
for the day. “Ms.
Regent” She tersely spoke.
“Well, that’s a cheery greeting.”
The voice on the other end replied.
“Oh, sorry Em.
I’m having a bad day.”
She replied.
“That’s okay.
I was just calling to confirm our meeting this afternoon.” Emily
Arbor said.
“Yep.
I’ll be there.
I gotta go now.
Bye my friend.”
Jocelyn said.
She waited for Emily to say goodbye and then hung up.
Turning back to her computer, she began to type her mass reply to all the
annoying inquirists.
Her message was nearly finished when the phone rang again.
Grumbling,
she grabbed the phone and barked into it: “Ms. Regent.”
“Now, is that anyway to answer a potential client?”
Came a familiar female voice.
“Sorry, how may I help you Miss …?” Joce trailed off.
“My name is unimportant.
I have a message.
You had best tell your client to stay away from my girl or next time she
wont be so lucky.”
The line went dead as the statement ended.
Jocelyn stared at the receiver in her hand and slammed the phone down.
Shaking slightly, she grabbed her briefcase and ran out of her office,
locking the door as she went.
********
Jo sat behind her desk looking over the recent tabloid issues concerning
her ‘accident’ seven months ago.
The press was relentless in their search for information.
Sighing she turned to look at her companion.
Emily Arbor was lying on the office couch chewing on her pencil’s
eraser. Her
notebook lay before her and a look of extreme concentration was evident on her
face. A
silly grin graced Jo’s features as she gazed at her young love.
It had been nearly nine months since they had met.
Jo sat at her desk thinking about everything that had transpired during
that time. She
had fallen in love with Emily the moment their eyes met for the first time.
She didn’t admit this to herself or to Emily until a couple months
later, then the ‘accident’.
Not an accident really, more of an attempt by Emily’s ex to kill her.
A shudder passed through her body recalling the look on the woman’s
face as her car drew closer to Jo.
Emily had turned to look at her lover just as the shudder went through
her body. Rising
from the couch, she slipped behind her and wrapped her arms around Jo and pulled
her close. “What’s
wrong honey?”
She whispered.
“Just thinking.”
Jo replied as she leaned into the gentle embrace.
“Mm hmm.
About what?”
Emily inquired.
“Nothing really.”
Emily sighed and decided to let it slide, this time. She
knew her lover far too well.
The accident was still fresh in her mind and she knew they were also in
her lover’s.
“Have you got anything?”
Jo inquired of her young love.
“Not yet, but then I always need inspiration.”
Emily replied with a sexy smirk.
Jo rose and wrapped her love in her arms and drew her close.
She slowly lowered her head and claimed her lover’s soft, sweet lips.
The door burst open and abruptly broke the heavenly moment.
In flew a very flustered looking Jocelyn Regent.
Her breathing came in rapid gasps as she stared at her friends.
Jo released her love and flew to Jocelyn’s side immediately.
Pulling her friend close, she led her over to the couch.
“Joce, hey you okay?
What happened?”
She asked as she rubbed her friend’s back.
Jocelyn took a few breaths and tried to respond.
Only some raspy mumbles came forth.
Emily appeared by her other side with a cup of water.
Jocelyn gratefully accepted the offered drink and quickly gulped down the
cool liquid.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Jo.
Jo’s eyes held compassion, worry, curiosity, and fear as she gazed at
her closest friend.
Once more she pulled Joce to her and rocked her gently.
She whispered gentle soothing words to try and calm her.
Joce pulled back after a moment and spoke: “I got a call.”
“Okay.
Is that why you came rushing in here like you had seen death herself?”
Jo tried to listen the mood with a joke.
A poke in the ribs was her friend’s reply along with a wicked smirk
from her lover.
Shrugging her shoulders, she waited for Joce to speak.
“It was her.”
Joce’s three words hung in the air as two sets of eyes stared wide-eyed
at her. Emily
rose and walked to the window and stared out into the curtains of rain.
The pain inside of her was growing and tears were barely held in check as
she looked out into nothingness.
Jo turned and gazed at her young love, her heart breaking at the sight.
‘Not again.’
She told herself.
“Are you sure Joce?”
Jo asked already knowing the answer.
Joce simply nodded.
She watched as Jo rose and went to her lover.
Taking Emily into her arms, she held her lover close.
“I’m sorry for ruining your day guys.”
Jocelyn didn’t really know what to say to make her friends feel better.
“Jo, can I speak to you for a moment?”
Jo turned and nodded.
After whispering something to Emily, she took Joce’s hand and exited
the office.
“You gonna be okay Joce?”
“Yeah, but there was something else.
She said that you better leave Emily alone or next time she’ll make
sure you….” Joce’s voice broke as she remembered the words.
Jo reached out and drew her close again.
“Shh.
It’s gonna be okay.
I promise.”
As she spoke the words, she repeated in her mind: ‘Not again.’
She had lost everything once; she wasn’t going to let it happen again.
Not this time.
This time the bad guy would lose, even if it took all she had.
The pair walked back into the office.
‘I will not lose her… I will not lose…’
*************
“I got it.”
A gruff voice spoke.
“Gimme it.”
The woman replied.
“Nah, give me my money.”
An instant passed and he looked down at his shirt just in time to see the
red blossom forming.
He looked at the woman as he fell to the floor.
“Well, that takes care of that.”
Reaching down, she retrieved the folder.
After removing her gloves, she flipped through the papers.
“Wait for me baby, I’m coming.”
She giggled as she left the room.
*************
“Hey, can we do that one again.
Rik, please try to stay on the same page as us.”
Sarah chastised her lover.
Erika simply shrugged and sat down.
Erin watched the two as they argued and couldn’t suppress the giggles.
Emily shook her head and stretched.
“Okay, from the top.”
Sarah called.
The band had been rehearsing all afternoon and, by the way they sounded,
you could tell a break was definitely needed.
Sarah seemed oblivious to this fact.
Just when the other three were about to ring her neck, the phone rang.
Erika was the first to the phone: “Yello?”
She crooned.
“Hey.”
Came the deep, satin voice.
“Hey, one sec.”
Erika walked back into the living room carrying the phone.
“It’s for you.”
She said as she tossed the phone to Emily.
“Hello.”
“Hey beautiful.”
“Hiya baby.
Watcha doing?
I thought you were working?”
Emily inquired.
“I am, but I’m taking a break.
I wanted to hear your voice and tell you I love you.”
Came Jo’s reply.
“I always want to hear your voice, love.
When will you be off?”
“About seven.
I have to get back to work.
I love you and see you at home.”
Emily said goodbye and hung up.
‘Home.’
She loved hearing that word from her lover’s mouth.
Turning back to her friends, she noticed all of them had matching smirks.
“Emily and Jo sitting in a tree…” They all crooned, then
burst out laughing.
Emily shook her head and fired back.
“Yeah at least I don’t look like you two.”
She stated pointing accusingly at Erika and Sarah.
The two looked at each other, then back at Emily.
“Oh yes you do, all the goofiness and the goof to boot!”
Erin cried as she burst into laughter again.
Emily rolled her eyes and went in search of something to drink.
There was a knock on the door interrupting the chaos in the living room.
Erika went to answer the door.
Opening the door, she found no one there.
Looking all around, she found an envelop on the ground.
It had no writing on it save the name ‘Emmy’.
Shrugging, she picked it up and closed the door.
She returned to the living room to find everyone cleaning up and putting
away the instruments.
“Hey Em, I found this.”
She said as she handed over the envelope.
Emily opened it and dropped it as if it were on fire.
Her face went completely white and she backed away from the paper.
Erin rushed to her side.
She led Emily to the sofa and sat next to her friend.
She rubbed her friend’s back and tried to calm her.
Emily remained silent and stared off into space.
Erika picked up the paper and envelope and showed it to Sarah who gasped.
Erin looked toward the two with a puzzled expression.
The couple walked over and showed her the envelope’s contents:
A photo of Cole and Emily was taped to a note that read: “Don’t
worry love, this will all be reality soon.
I love you.”
Further down the note ended with:
“Our sun will shine as soon as I destroy the Knyte. – C”
Erin gasped and motioned Erika over.
Erika wrapped herself around Emily and Sarah did likewise.
Erin went into the kitchen and phoned Joana Knyte’s office.
If there was anyone who could reach Emily, it was Jo.
She prayed that Jo was still at the office, or that she at least had her
cell on. After
a few rings the machine at the office picked up.
Hanging up, Erin quickly dialed Jo’s cell.
After only one ring, it was picked up.
“Hey.”
Came the smooth deep voice.
“Jo, Oh my Gawd.
Please come over here now!”
Erin tried her best to remain calm, but the quiver in her voice came
through loud and clear.
“What!! What happened?
Where’s Emily?
Is she okay?
What…” Erin telling her to come over immediately interrupted
Jo’s litany of questions.
Jo hung up and hurriedly headed over to the apartment.
On her way she called Jocelyn and told her to meet her there.
*************
A figure cloaked in darkness watched the activity in the apartment with
an odd sense of glee.
“See, she’s so happy she can’t handle it.
I’m coming for you baby.
Now to figure out a way to eliminate my little problem.”
Putting down the binoculars, the figure stepped away from the window.
Turning to the desk, she sat down and began to write.
