Part 2

By late afternoon Xena, Gabrielle and Argo were closing in on their destination with a vengeance.  They were growing hungry, which was no small matter for Gabrielle, but were determined to reach Calorphius before pausing to take care of their stomachs.

The group crested the hill overlooking the village just as the sun began to set over the lake.  And what a gorgeous lake it was, spread out before them on the far side of the little village.  "Gods Xena, this place is beautiful!  There’s such magic in the air here." Gabrielle sighed.  "I feel like part of my soul is hidden here somehow."

Xena’s mind raced at the bard’s words.  She felt something special here too, and come Tartarus or the Elysian Fields, she was going to reveal her love to Gabrielle before they left this place.  She prayed she got the response she was hoping for.

******************************************************************************************

Dinner was scrumptious.  Xena was thrilled to see her bard get two helpings of almost everything she ordered!  Xena, on the other hand ate modestly.  Not that she would ever admit it, but she was a bit nervous about what the night possibly had in store for them.

The Inn they had picked was lavish, but well worth it.  They were on a holiday after all.  Argo was being well cared for in the nearby stables, and the little village was incredibly peaceful, so the warrior was able to let down her guard and relax almost completely (except for those Tartarus-spawned butterflies swirling around in her gut), and concentrate only on what she was about to tell Gabrielle.

After dinner, the pair made their way up the stairs to their room on the second floor.  Throwing the door open, the friends gazed at the oversized bed that was draped with silk hangings.  A large, private bath was across the room, candles lining the rim.  A tray was on a cart in the center of the room with a pitcher of port and a large serving of grapes.

Xena chuckled a little uneasily.  "What’s the matter?" Gabrielle questioned, almost afraid to find out.

"Oh, I’m just surprised by the accommodations.  This looks more like a honeymoon suite than a holiday hideaway!"  Xena exclaimed.

Gabrielle tensed, "If you don’t like this room..." Xena’s fingers stopped the bard from completing her statement.

"It’s fine," Xena smiled, "It’s even better than I could have imagined."

"Now what does she mean by that?" Gabrielle wondered as the door was closed behind her.

"I sure could use a hot bath," Xena said as she passed by Gabrielle, "how ‘bout you joining me?"

The bard almost choked trying to form the words, "S-S-Sure, why not?  It’s been a long day and I could use some relaxation."  Xena’s face suddenly flushed unintentionally as her thoughts raced about just how she might ... help ... her bard relax.  Luckily she still had some of her warrior timing and wits about her and she quickly recovered with a lop-sided grin as her features returned to their normal coloring, giving the bard a little wiggle of the eyebrows for extra effect.  What effect she wasn’t sure, but Gabrielle always seemed to like when she did that, so what did she have to lose?

As they both undressed in silence, the bard’s thoughts were running wild.  "Don’t read anything into that."  her mind kept repeating.  That was until she turned around and saw Xena’s magnificent, naked form before her hungry eyes.  "Gods," thought Gabrielle, "how did you make such a perfect woman?"

A moment of silence passed before Xena realized that Gabrielle was standing there fixated on her.  Slowly, Xena moved to place the tray on the edge of the bath.  "I must be imagining this."  thought Xena, "But I will find out one way or another!"

A devilishly disarming grin crossed the warrior’s face as she lowered herself into the bath in front of Gabrielle.  "Gabrielle.... Oh, Gab—ri---eeeelllleee!"  she sang out.  The bard jolted back to reality.  "Do you want a bath, or would you just like to air out?" Xena teased as she flicked water across the tub and onto the bard’s naked form.

"Uh, oh, sorry, I ah, guess, ah, I was daydreaming.  New scroll ideas, you know!" Gabrielle giggled nervously.

"Ohhhh, good one." the bard thought.  "She’ll believe that!"

"Ohhhh, good one Gabrielle!" Xena’s mind turned in thought, "I sure as Hades hope you’re not serious about that!"

Xena was totally confused as Gabrielle entered the water next to her.  The sexual tension pulsing through Xena’s body was almost unbearable.  The friends had bathed together countless times over the past two years, what was so different now?  "Just relax and take your time." Xena thought.

The bard sensed a new awkwardness in her friend that she couldn’t understand and wanted to ease her troubles.  "Want to have some port with me?" she inquired.

"Sure." Xena responded, "We’re here to relax right?"

Gabrielle smiled and gazed at the warrior through beautiful green eyes as she poured the port.  Handing a glass to Xena she said, "Here, turn around and I’ll rub your back."  Gabrielle settled in behind Xena with her back against the tub and began to knead the warrior’s back.  The bard could feel her friend’s muscles relax slightly.  She also felt something else, something new and indescribably pleasant.  A tingling sensation was running the length of her own body.  Whatever this feeling was, she wanted more of it, and she knew without a doubt that Xena could supply it; she just hoped she would be willing to do so.

Reaching back for a grape, she brought her hand up in front of Xena’ face.  "Dessert?" Gabrielle offered.

Xena felt flushed, she had allowed herself to melt into the bard’s hypnotic massage and was now jolted back to reality, "Yeah, ah sure."

The bard brought the fruit to her lips and Xena bit into it, savoring the sweetness.  The warrior’s mind raced as she took in all the sensations enveloping her.  Another grape appeared before her.  As she began to take it into her mouth, she sucked deeply and found Gabrielle’s finger rubbing her lips.  "Ummm...." sighed Gabrielle.

"Please Gods, let me be right, I can’t lose her." Xena silently pleaded.  As Gabrielle’s fingers left her lips, Xena turned to face her friend.  "Gabrielle I...."

"Xena I....", they both blurted out at the same time, cutting each other off.

"Gabrielle please, I have to say this now." Xena’s voice cracked.  The bard braced herself, praying to any God that would listen that she had been right.  "Gabrielle many times I’ve tried to tell you this, but I couldn’t bear to face what might happen if you didn’t feel the way I did.  For so long my emotions have been closed and guarded, but then you came into my life and slowly I have grown to trust and love you in ways I never knew I was capable of."  Xena’s beautiful blue eyes misted over as she continued, "Gabrielle, I love you.  I know you love me too, you’ve said so many times, but I just don’t know how.  I don’t want to be wrong, I...." Gabrielle placed her fingers on Xena’s lips, silencing her.  The bard was finally sure.

"Xena, I do love you.  And if you are questioning how, well...." Gabrielle suddenly pulled Xena close and began to devour the lips she had so often fantasized about.  "Oh, Gabrielle...." Xena sighed as she parted her lips and eagerly welcomed the bard’s exploring tongue.

As they tasted the wine on each other’s lips their passion rose to unimaginable heights.  At once Gabrielle’s hands were on Xena’s firm breasts, gently massaging her erect nipples.  Although the bard had never done this before, it felt so natural to have this woman in her arms.  She had dreamed this scenario so many times, not sure it would ever happen.

Xena’s breathing was so labored she was sure she would die before this night was over.  This was her Gabrielle, her dream, and, thank the Gods, this time it was real!

The warrior managed to compose herself momentarily as Gabrielle began nibbling her ears and kissing her neck.  "Sweetheart, hold on to me." purred Xena as she placed her strong arms under the bard and gently rose up, lifting her out of the bath.

She carried Gabrielle to the bed and laid her down, gazing at her as though seeing the sensuous young woman clearly for the first time.  The bard’s body was glistening wet from the bath and Xena felt a lump rise in her throat.  Her best friend, her constant companion, the only person she would rot in Tartarus for, and now, before the night was over, her lover.

Xena kneeled on the bed beside Gabrielle, stroking her hair.  "Gabrielle, you are so beautiful," Xena’s voice cracked with emotion, "I’ve wanted this for so long, but I was afraid to scare you away."

"You don’t ever have to be afraid again." the bard smiled.

"Oh, that sweet smile." Xena thought.

Gabrielle pulled Xena down on top of her.  The warrior lay upon her love, inches from her face, feeling the sensation of their bodies touching, "I am so in love with you Gabrielle.  I felt it the day we met and it’s grown stronger everyday since."

Xena began kissing Gabrielle, at first sweet, gentle pecks.  Her fever rose as her probing tongue intertwined with the bard’s and she feasted hungrily on her mouth.

The warrior’s hand gently began to stroke one of Gabrielle’s breasts, encircling her soft pink nipple with mastered delicacy.  The bard gasped as wave after wave of pleasure surged through her body.  It was almost too much to bear.  This was her warrior, the most devastatingly beautiful woman in the known world, lowering herself down upon Gabrielle’s firm body with a look of pure, unadulterated passion in her eyes!

Xena kissed down the bard’s neck and finally her lips lighted on one of the beautiful buds she had been stroking.  She heard Gabrielle’s soft moans as she delicately suckled first one, then the other and back again.

The warrior could hardly contain her own growing arousal and felt a warm, wet glow between her thighs.  Xena continued to suck and lick the bard’s soft breasts as her hands began to explore lower.  All at once, Xena felt a surge of heat on her hand.

"Ohhhh...." she felt the breath leave her as she realized she was cupping Gabrielle’s hot, soft mound.  "Gods Gabrielle, you’re so wet!" the warrior cried out.

"Mmmmm hummmm...", was all Gabrielle could manage as a reply.

Xena gently slipped a finger inside the moist folds and let the slick of the bard’s wetness glide her over the delicate skin.

"Ahhhhh, Gods Xena, that’s the_most_i_i_incredible feeling_I’ve_ever_k_known!" Gabrielle cried out, her voice catching.

Delight and jealousy swept through Xena at the same time as she remembered that Gabrielle did share one night with Perdicus, but much to the warrior’s happiness, she seemed to be enjoying the love she was sharing with Xena as if it were something completely new and inexperienced.  "It only gets better sweetheart." Xena whispered.  Then she lowered herself, kissing down the length of Gabrielle’s stomach before coming to rest in the softness of the bard’s curly blond mound.  The scent that greeted her would have killed her if such things were possible.  It was the sweetest fragrance she’d ever known in her life.  The bard was so full of love it emanated through all of Xena’s senses and enveloped her with its essence.

Gabrielle’s breathing became more ragged as the warrior began to lap at her folds, spreading them with her tongue.  The taste of her lover swept Xena up as she found the treasure she sought and began nipping at the swelling bundle of nerves at Gabrielle’s core.  Xena moved her hands over the bard’s stomach and thighs as she continued drinking in her juices.

Carefully, the warrior moved a hand between Gabrielle’s thighs and moistened a finger with her mouth.  Slowly, Xena began to enter the bard, but was shocked when the digit suddenly met with resistance.  Gabrielle felt the pressure and realized Xena had slowed down her rhythm, somewhat confused.

"Xena, I’m yours my love, I always have been.  Please take me..." cried the bard.

"Gabri....how?" Xena questioned, "You were with Perdicus, weren’t you?"

"No Xena, I couldn’t let him touch me that night." Gabrielle continued, "All I kept thinking about, talking about, was you.  You’re the only one I’ve ever really wanted."

The bard felt Xena’s finger twitch at her opening.  "Xena, give me the love I’ve desired for so long; make me yours forever."

Xena was overcome with a passion she’d never known before.  She brought her body up and lay upon her lover, feeling the whole of her firm body beneath her.  "I will sweetheart, I want you so very much."  the warrior said lovingly.  As she kissed Gabrielle, she reassuringly whispered in her ear, "You might feel a little pain, but I promise it will only hurt for a second."

"Xena, I trust you with my life, I know you will never hurt me intentionally." the bard responded as she placed little wispy kisses on the warrior’s face and neck.

All the things she had possessed and conquered in her dark past meant nothing, they never had, and she knew that now.  The only thing that mattered was the love of her Gabrielle.  As she kissed her deeply, Xena knew true love for the first time in her life.  Her index finger lovingly teased Gabrielle’s warm opening in - only to the point of resistance - and out again, and she knew that her dreams had come true ... her love had waited for her, for this moment.

"Oh Gods!"  Gabrielle cried out, "I love you so much!"

"And I love you, sweetheart." Xena responded.

The warrior’s thrusts picked up cadence as she penetrated deeper, still meeting resistance.  The bard ran her fingers through Xena’s dark mane as the warrior kissed her lips furiously.  Xena could feel her heart pounding in her head with unchecked passion.

Finally Xena screamed, "Gods Gaaaabrielllle, I don’t ever want this to end, but I want you so bad!"

"Pleeeease Xena, do it now!" the bard gasped as the warrior was driven over the edge.  She felt her finger break through the resistance and slide deep inside her lover.  "Aaaagggghhhh, Xeeeennnnaaaa!" Gabrielle cried out as she gave herself to the woman she’d dreamed of loving for so long.  How she thanked the Gods for saving her for this moment.  There would be no other lovers for her, just one, the only one who had ever mattered ... Xena.

"Ohhhhh, Gabrielle, my sweetheart."  Xena was completely enraptured as she continued to drive herself in and out of her lover.

Without warning, the bard felt a sensation build that she could have never known existed.  As the waves of impending orgasm shook Gabrielle to her very foundation, Xena noticed the sudden surge of hot liquid coating her fingers and could not contain her own orgasm any longer.

"BY THE GODS..." Xena choked out as she came in an overwhelming flood of emotion and desire.

"OH_MY_GODS!" Gabrielle screamed as she too climaxed.  Xena stayed with the bard’s movements, matching the rise and fall of her hips as they slowly brought their breathing under control.

The warrior slowly withdrew her finger as she nuzzled Gabrielle’s neck, tenderly kissing her.  She brought the finger up to her face and gazed at it lovingly as she placed it between her mouth and Gabrielle’s so that they could both taste the love they had just shared.

"Um, oh...." Gabrielle exclaimed.

Xena knew immediately what was wrong.  "Don’t worry sweetheart, it’s just a little blood from losing your innocence.  I didn’t hurt you, did I?" Xena added with concern in her voice.

"Gods no!  Xena, I want you to understand something, you could never hurt me I trust you with my life.  What you just did, what WE did together ... it was the most incredible experience I’ve ever had!  I’ve never felt this way before ... I didn’t know I could."  The bard smiled that smile that had disarmed a certain Warrior Princess the very first time she saw it.

"Gabrielle, you are my life.  What you just gave me was the most precious gift I’ll ever get in this lifetime or beyond.  I know that for sure, and I’d rather die than lose what we have shared tonight."  Xena spoke the words with utter devotion written on her face.

"I am the luckiest person alive." Gabrielle gushed as the full force of what had just happened struck her.

Gorgeous blue eyes gazed back at her as she heard, "No sweetheart, I am.  You’ve given me such a gift tonight, if Celesta came and took me tomorrow, I would be able to go happily."

"Oh no you don’t!  I’m not letting you go anywhere without me from now on." Gabrielle exclaimed.  "I’ve waited my whole life for you and I intend to spend many more wonderful nights like this with you."

Xena smiled, "Don’t worry, sweetheart, I don’t ever want to leave you again.  My heart and my soul are yours for eternity.  Not to mention my body."  The warrior’s eyebrows wiggled mischievously.

"That’s a deal I can live with." Gabrielle grinned.

Xena suddenly felt the nagging of an unanswered question in the back of her mind.  "Gabrielle, why didn’t you ever tell me about your night with Perdicus?  Why couldn’t you make love to him?"

The bard gave a shy look, "I tried to, but then I realized that I had only married him because I felt sorry for him and was worried about what would happen to him if I said no.  I loved him, but not enough to give myself to him, and he sensed that.  He took such good care of me that night that I prayed to the Gods to teach me to love him in that way.  I wanted to be happy with him because I knew that you and I would never be able to share our lives that way.  Thank the Gods I was wrong about that.  I know now that I should have told you sooner, but I didn’t know what you’d think ... until tonight."

"Oh sweetheart, I love you so much." Xena responded, unshed tears in her eyes.

"I love you too." Gabrielle sighed, feeling her heart melt at the sight of the warrior in her arms.

As the old friends and newfound lovers felt sleep drawing on them, they held each other tightly.

"Xena?"  Gabrielle whispered, fighting Morpheus off momentarily.

"Um, hmmm?"  Xena responded.

"I hope you won’t forget my fishing lessons tomorrow."  the bard teased.

Under the cover of darkness, Xena burst into a lop-sided grin as a wonderfully mischievous thought entered her mind.  "Not a chance." she replied.
